The electric vehicle (EV) is Xpeng’s second car and resoundingly focuses on an intelligent, smart platform. The car is chock full of goodies, and the interior feels spacious, roomy, and very comfortable.

How hard can it be to build a great electric car? After all, a Silicon Valley startup, founded by a group of engineers with little or no experience in the auto industry, managed to produce a blockbuster automobile in a mere 10 years, and has now become the USA’s most valuable automaker. Some of Tesla’s fastest all-electric sedans recently faced down a powerful contender on an abandoned airport runway (turned into a drag strip). The contender? The feared Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. Racers call it the F12B — a 730 hp beast fitted with a 6.3L V12 engine.
The Porsche Taycan might not be giving Tesla a tough time in the technological advancement or self-driving arena, but when it comes to the numbers some drivers value so much, it is giving Tesla a challenge with every passing day.
There seem to be no end to the end-of-incentives hangover in China, with the Chinese plug-in market dropping a steep 27% year over year (YoY), and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) crashing 45% YoY last month. Additionally, BEVs finally got dragged into the red ink, dropping a harsh 20% in September. The overall auto market was not so catastrophic, sliding down just 6% YoY.
It seemed to me that Audi (under the VAG Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft) with the extravagant technical achievement of the A2 had made a profound statement of peak efficiency of the internal combustion engine that it seemed impossible to surpass, and the next big surprise from this respected automobile giant would be an electric long-range model. I was certain I would be trading in my diesel A2 with an electric A2 soon enough.
I was browsing Facebook a few days ago and I saw a member of the Southwest Florida EV group posted that Chevy Bolt prices were really low. The Bolt got a lot of publicity a couple of years ago as many made a big deal that it beat the Model 3 to market. Though, now that Model 3 production is ramped up and meeting US demand (although foreign demand is still unsatisfied in many places), we don’t hear much about the Bolt.
