Binding climate legislation is now agreed upon among the vast majority of the Danish parliament. An astounding 167 seats out of 179 total are in agreement that any sitting government in the country is now obliged to work actively towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 70% in 2030 against the 1990 benchmark, and to ultimately reach net zero in 2050.
German news outlet Bild reports that BASF will build a battery factory in Brandenburg for 500 million euros ($555 million). The factory will center around producing cathodes, and the news comes four weeks after Tesla’s surprise for Germany.

A new 93 MWh Tesla Powerpack system installed in Alaska by the Homer Electric Association, Inc., will be used to directly offset electricity that would have otherwise required a peaker plant to fire up. The new battery pack will be installed at the Soldotna Power Plant (map), adjacent to the existing natural gas-fired GE LM 6000 turbine currently used to provide electricity to cover peak usage in the area.

Loveland, Colorado-based commercial EV builder Lightning Systems just closed a $41 million round of financing comprised of equity, debt, and working capital line funding from a variety of investors.
