September had 2,796 plug-in vehicle registrations, which was the market’s best result since 2016. That translated into a plug-in vehicle (PEV) share of 9.5% in the country. The result pulls the year-to-date count to 14,977 units, with the 2018 PEV share growing to 4.1%.
The European passenger plug-in market grew slightly above average last month (42% in August vs 41% year to date). The continent registered some 30,000 plug-in cars, pulling the year-to-date (YTD) count to some 242,000 deliveries and pushing the 2018 market share to 2.3%. For the month of August, the market share was 2.7%.
The European passenger plug-in market slowed down a bit to enjoy the holiday season, registering some 27,000 registrations in July. That’s an increase of 30% compared to the same period last year. It pulled the year-to-date count to some 212,000 deliveries (+41% YoY), while the 2018 EV market share remained stable at 2.2%, which, incidentally, was the same market share registered in July.

In June, the continent registered some 38,000 plug-in electric vehicles (PEV), up 37% relative to the same period last year and the continent’s second best performance ever. That showing pulled the year-to-date (YTD) count to some 185,000 deliveries (+43% year over year, or YoY). In total, the 2018 PEV market share of the overall car market there is up to 2.2% (2.4% in June).
The Netherlands saw 2,309 electric vehicle (PEV) registrations in June, up 141% compared to the same month last year, pulling the year-to-date count to 9,074 units (+131%) and the 2018 share up to 3.6%. The PEV market share reached 4.9% in June, the country’s best result in 18 months.

Fully electric cars (BEVs) and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) grew at the same pace (+38%) in May, with plug-in hybrids now having an advantage of 6,000 units. April had 1,311 plug-in car registrations in the Netherlands, up 123% compared to the same period last year, pulling the year-to-date count to 6,765 units (+128%), and pulling the 2018 share slightly up, to 3.3%. Fully electric cars (BEVs) represented 88% of all PEV sales.
