Lucid is one company that would be happy to eat the lunch of the major manufacturers who can’t be bothered to make electric cars. This week, it finally broke ground on its factory in Casa Grande, Arizona. David Salguero of Lucid Motors says the plant is on track to begin production of the Lucid Air electric car by late 2020, according to a report by the Houston Chronicle.
Twitter user “Vincent” is well known for sharing knowledge about the going-ons of the Tesla Shanghai Gigafactory — information that he gets from Chinese media and social media connections in China. Earlier today, he posted a thread of tweets detailing a meeting between Tesla’s Global Vice President, Tao Lin, and a journalist with the Chinese media.
The Tesla Gigafactory in Shanghai hired its first staff group, so that the company can start trial production in September. This is big news for Tesla. The goals that Elon Musk set out in January are being met on time.

Elon Musk shook things up on Twitter a bit this week. Some fans got concerned Tesla would stop selling cars at some point, but the core point was simply that the value of Tesla cars will go up a lot once Full Self Driving is implemented. Elon clarified that what he meant was simply that the price was going to go up significantly.
Trends point to a Tesla financial resurgence.
An internal email to employees dated July 9 from Jerome Guillen, President of Automotive at Tesla, said the company is “making preparations” to raise output at its factory in Fremont, California (where we recently interviewed him). “While we can’t be too specific in this email, I know you will be delighted with the upcoming developments,” Guillen said, according to a report by Bloomberg, which claims to have seen a copy of the email.
Amsterdam-based electric scooter company Etergo was on a quest to build the manufacturing base for its fully electric AppScooter and just this week announced that a decision has been made. The company has partnered with experienced manufacturing company Technologies Added to build its scooter in its backyard (not literally!) in the Netherlands.
