Sony Electric Car … Australian Fire Insanity … Zombie Solar Energy Storage System — CleanTechnica Top 20

January 14th, 2020 | by Zachary Shahan

The biggest, hottest, most enticing CleanTechnica stories last week were led by Sony unveiling an electric car, the impossible-to-comprehend scale of this month's Australian wildfires, and a solar energy storage device from the 1980s that has come back to life. You may have noticed something unusual by now — there wasn't a single Tesla story in the top 3! That's the first time in a long time, and ironic considering that Tesla stock [TSLA] went bonkers last week (and is still going bonkers)

Tesla Cybertruck vs. Garage … Dutch EV Sales Explosion … 2012 Model S Still Beats New Non-Tesla EVs — Top 20 CleanTechnica Stories of December

January 2nd, 2020 | by Zachary Shahan

The Tesla Cybertruck may be "old news" by now (ah, the not-so-endearing ADD of the internet), but a piece of ours explaining why it doesn't really need a garage was still king of the hill last month. Tesla took silver too, with a story explaining that the 2012 Tesla Model S still has superior specs to new 2020 EV entrants from other companies than Tesla. In third was a piece on world-leading research from our friend Mark Z. Jacobson and several colleagues on how the world could be a galaxy-leading 100% renewable energy planet!

Tesla Cybertrucks Don’t Need Garages … 2012 Tesla Model S Beats 2020 EV Competitors … Dutch EV Sales Explosion Soon The New Normal — CleanTechnica Top 20

December 21st, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

The top three stories on CleanTechnica last week were some writer reflections or analysis on Tesla vehicles and the burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) market as a whole. They explained why a Tesla Cybertruck doesn't need to park in a garage, that a 2012 Tesla Model S is still unbeaten by non-Tesla competitors — including EVs coming in 2020, and why the huge growth in EV sales in the Netherlands is something we should get used to

Tesla Backup Gateway 2 … Bank of America UK EV Cost of Ownership Study … Tesla Revenue Growth — #CleanTechnica Top 20

December 16th, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

What caught readers' eyes the most on CleanTechnica last week? That would be the new Tesla Backup Gateway 2, which looks like a mini Powerwall; a titillating study on EV total cost of ownership in the UK that Bank of American Merrill Lynch conducted and shared with CleanTechnica; and a commentary on Tesla's revenue growth juxtaposed against Tesla critics' seemingly never-ending pessimism, which is typically very misplaced

Tesla Model 3 = #3 in California … Tesla Cybertruck Spy Video … — CleanTechnica Top 20

December 9th, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

The Tesla Cybertruck continued to blow up last week, and stimulated many different articles. Nonetheless, the Tesla Model 3 slipped through the pack to take the #1 position on the top stories list. A few more Model 3 stories, some Ford stories, a few on Tesla gigafactories, and a little bit of solar just about wrapped up the rest of the top 20 list. Check out the details below

$79–$178 EV Lease … Tesla Cybertruck’s Enormous Implications … Potential $108/kWh Tesla Battery Pack — CleanTechnica Top 20

December 2nd, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

A whopping 14 top 20 articles last week were about the Tesla Cybertruck! I think that's a new record for a single product. Nonetheless, quite humorously, the #1 article was about low leases for the Hyundai Ioniq Electric rather than anything about the Cybertruck. The #2 article is an epic article about why the Cybertruck is much more than it seems on the surface, and the #3 piece delves into implications regarding the low battery price Tesla seems to be showing with the Cybertruck pricing and specs

Off Grid: SunPower Solar Panels + Tesla Powerwalls … Boring Company + Pumped Hydro … Tesla Gigafactory Economies of Scale — CleanTechnica Top 20

November 19th, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

The most popular CleanTechnica stories last week included fun content about an off-grid month with SunPower solar panels + Tesla Powerwalls, the just-beginning economies of scale Tesla is getting from its gigafactories, a pitch for Elon Musk's The Boring Company getting into pumped hydro, Tesla dominating US electric vehicle sales, and much more. Scroll down for the headlines and click through to the ones that tickle your fancy!

Tesla Model & Model 3 Visual Comparison … Tesla 1-Pedal Driving … Potential 10,000/Month EVs — CleanTechnica Top 20

November 10th, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

The most popular stories of the past week on CleanTechnica were led by a visual comparison of the Tesla Model 3 and Tesla Model Y, followed by Paul Fosse's early review of one-pedal driving in a Tesla Model 3 (following a recent software update many of us still haven't gotten). My second piece on non-Tesla electric vehicle models that might one day reach 10,000 sales a month was in third, and an answer to the never-ending question of whether Teslas work in snow was right behind it. For the rest of the top 20, and to actually see the headlines and click through to fun articles you missed, scroll down below

Polestar Pricing … Electric Mazda … Tesla Model 3 = #6 In USA — CleanTechnica Top 20

November 4th, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

The most popular CleanTechnica stories of October were led by Polestar and Mazda. Seriously. No offense to Polestar or Mazda (okay, some offense to Polestar and Mazda), but I wouldn't have seen that coming a mile away. Does this show a great thirst for more EV news beyond Tesla and more serious EV entries? Possibly. Or it was just some lucky timing and catchy headlines. Or all of the above. In any case, that's where things landed in October. Tesla still dominated the top 20, with 15 out of 20 stories, but it was an interesting phenomenon to see the company almost pushed out of the top

Electric Mazda … Porsche vs. Tesla Launchonanza … Gold-Free Perovskite Solar — CleanTechnica Top 20

November 3rd, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

Mazda? Mazda? A possibly lame-ass electrification effort from Mazda? Yes, apparently, that was somehow our most popular article of the week last week here on CleanTechnica. Will more than 100,000 people consider — let alone buy — the electric Mazda? I doubt it! But they'll read about it. (Granted, Tina's headline must have been part of the appeal, and I did think from the headline the car was going to be edible in some way.)

Aluminum-Air Battery … Chevy Bolt & Hyundai Kona vs. Tesla Model 3 Sales … The Mistake Of Buying A Tesla Competitor — CleanTechnica Top 20

October 28th, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

The most popular CleanTechnica stories of the past week were led by a (somewhat wild) claim of an aluminum-air battery breakthrough. Yup, really. After that, it was almost all Tesla — Tesla Model 3 sales compared to other top EV sales, buying a gas "luxury car" competitor to a Tesla, Tesla disruption in Norway, Elon Musk and Tesla proving naysayers wrong, a Tesla fire, Tesla software updates

Tesla Model Y Production … Fusion Energy … Tesla Model 3 Range After 50,000 Miles — #CleanTechnica Top 20

October 21st, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

The top 20 CleanTechnica stories of the week were led by a Tesla Model Y production plan an insider leaked to us, which is both super exciting and something to be cautious about. The second most popular piece was a story about Tesla Model 3 range after 50,000 miles of driving. The black swan story of the week that climbed its way into the top 3 was on the topic of fusion energy. (Proceed with caution if you plan to read about that news item.) For the rest of the top 20, skim down below and click the ones that tickle your interest.

Polestar Pricing … Tesla Model 3 = #6 Car In USA … Capital One On “Tesla Effect” — #CleanTechnica Top 20

October 12th, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

Polestar's entry into the electric vehicle world took the top spot this past week on CleanTechnica, being the number one article viewed on CleanTechnica thanks to the hundreds of thousands of views it pulled in. The focus of the article was its pricing, which is surprisingly high. Yet again, it seems that a new "Tesla killer" just doesn't compete with Tesla vehicles, even though it is a nice addition to the EV market and deserves solid sales

Perplexing Accord & Camry Buyers … 7 Year Old Tesla Model S Battery Degradation … Old Nissan LEAF vs. New Tesla Model 3 — Top 20 CleanTechnica Stories in September

October 8th, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

The most popular CleanTechnica article of September did not have "Tesla" in the title, but if you read the piece, you can see the story is closely tied to the Tesla Model 3. The shock I just couldn't stop shaking was about how many people continue to buy new Toyota Camrys and Honda Accords. Compared to the Model 3, I get it — even if they have the same 5 year cost of ownership (possible), they have a lower upfront price. That said, if $100–200 a month is a dealbreaker for someone looking at these options, my opinion is that they definitely shouldn't be buying a new car at all. But hey, that's just my opinion

McDonald’s EV Charging … Tesla Model 3 vs. Toyota Camry vs. Chevy Bolt Cost of Ownership — #CleanTechnica Top 20

October 6th, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

The most popular stories on CleanTechnica this past week were led by a McDonald's story for the first time (or perhaps second — I remember a very popular McDonald's story here in 2010). The second and third most popular stories were both about total cost of ownership comparisons — between the Tesla Model 3 and Toyota Camry and then the Chevy Bolt and Tesla Model 3 and Toyota Camry. Next in line were videos of Tesla Smart Summon (which went a bit viral on what the kids call "the Internet") and a couple of pieces on how early concerns about the Model 3 and Gigafactory 3 became irrelevant

Confusing Honda Accord & Toyota Camry Purchases … Tesla Model 3 vs. Mercedes C-Class — #CleanTechnica Top 20

September 29th, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

It's time for another roundup of the 20 most popular stories of the week. As proof of the fact that you don't even need "Tesla" in the headline to have a Tesla story go viral, the top story of the week was about the Honda Accord & Toyota Camry while silently being about the Tesla Model 3. The second most popular story compared the Model 3 to two top sellers on the other end of its gradient of competitors, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi

Tesla Battery Life … Tesla Commercial Solar … Tesla Model S On Nürburgring — CleanTechnica Top 20

September 22nd, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan
