Stuttgart: A City Caught Between Two Worlds, Part 1 (CleanTechnica Exclusive)

In an attempt to summarize what he was looking for from a cutting-edge race vehicle, Emil Jellinek — one of the original designers of the first Mercedes-Benz vehicle — said simply, “I don’t want a car for today or tomorrow, it will be the car of the day after tomorrow.” In many ways, we are back at the same intersection of the end of an era of old technology as it is faced with the dawning of a new era.

Toyota Prius Prime #1 (er… #3) — Beats Chevy Volt, Chevy Bolt, & Nissan LEAF…

As I noted last month, due to Tesla’s higher and higher production rates and little insight into where those cars are shipped, we’ve decided to stop estimating Tesla’s US sales/deliveries. That said, generally speaking, we expect that Tesla ships approximately 2,000–3,000 Model S and Model X each (so, 4,000–6,000 combined) to US customers. So, more likely than not, the Model S and Model X are the highest-selling electric cars in the United States.

Countdown To Model 3 Month

One of our eager readers and top advisors recently had the idea of running a “Countdown to Model 3” series, since Model 3 production is now supposed to start next month. We have a few ideas for stories, but would also love your input on what you’d like to see us investigate, analyze, and muse about.

Tesla Model 3 vs Lexus ES (& ES Hybrid), Lexus IS, Lexus GS (& GS…

Following up on the Tesla Model 3 vs Audi A3, Audi A4, Audi A5, Audi S3 fun, let’s dive into another lineup of premium-class sedans and hybrids that the Tesla Model 3 will compete against.

Doing things a bit differently this time, let’s jump into Lexus sales first. Sales of these 4 Lexus models added up to 119,369 in the US in 2016, about 55,000 more than the Audi A3, A4, and A5 combined (74,579). Combining all of these models, we’re up to nearly 200,000 premium sedan sales the Tesla Model 3 could steal some serious revenue from.

India Will Fly Forward With Cleantech & Climate Action Despite Donald Trump (CleanTechnica Exclusive)

I was lucky to be recording a panel discussion in Abu Dhabi in January when cleantech expert Michael Liebreich, Chairman of the Advisory Board of Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF), asked Piyush Goyal, India’s Minister of State with Independent Charge for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy and Mines, what India would do if the USA pulled out of the Paris Agreement (in order to satisfy the conspiracy theories and financial interests of Donald Trump). Piyush delivered an epic response.

Tesla Model 3 vs Audi A3, Audi A4, Audi A5, Audi S3

Even that title looks like a looming disaster for Audi. It’s like when Lionel Messi takes on several opponents at once as if that would make it fair … but then humiliates them all.

Also, apologies to Audi for starting with you. Perhaps it was due to the alphabetical primacy. Perhaps it was that Audi is such a popular brand in the segment the Tesla Model 3 is clearly targeting. Or perhaps it was simply because I like the design of Audis, I bought an Audi as my first car as a teenager (at a time when buying an Audi was not normal or advised), and I used to be in love with the Audi A4. Anyhow, apologies to Audi for starting with you — we’ll be running comparisons with other Model 3 competitors shortly.
