Among people closely following Tesla, it seems that the biggest topic of the past week has been biased and misleading coverage of Tesla, and electric vehicles or cleantech more generally, from major media outlets.
Chinese automaker JAC Motors (江淮汽车) launched an electric-only ride-hailing service called Hexing (Hexing on-line Hailing) (和行约车/Hexing Yueche) on the 9th of January in Hefei, Anhui, China. I have been monitoring this service since launch. Today, I will explain the service, its future expansion plan, and my experience in the vehicles.
To satisfy my own curiosity (and, apparently, that of millions of other people), I’ve been running 5-year cost comparisons of the Tesla Model 3 and other top selling cars on the US market. This round of comparisons pits the Tesla Model 3 versus the Nissan Altima and Nissan Maxima.
We have new data about the performance of Tesla’s new Supercharger version 3 (V3) when charging a Tesla Model 3 Long Range. It’s even faster than we thought! YouTuber Dagery recorded a charging session, showing the Tesla recovering 50% of the battery capacity in under 12 minutes.
As part of my efforts to fight untrue Tesla myths, I recently engaged the Tesla community to create a Tesla Myth Busters FAQ page. The only reason we’re running this comparison is because, shockingly, the Tesla Model 3 does compete with the Toyota Corolla on cost.
In an article by Ivan Penn published this weekend, the New York Times has stretched the truth beyond breaking point to suggest that EVs cannot make the LA–Las Vegas–LA round trip without needing over 5 hours of charging. Let’s clean up their mess.
