Automakers Paid Me To Show They Lag Tesla

Last holiday weekend, my brother in law (who also loves to test drive cars) suggested I drive 6 cars and get $265 in gift cards. I thought, “I get to drive cars, I get gift cards, and its a great story idea” (well, I guess you the reader will be the judge of that). What is the downside? Well, dealers calling me for the next month and asking if I want to buy the car I drove.

I’ve spent the past week or so thoroughly looking through our archives. In the process, I’ve run across some pretty funny and interesting old articles. This one below is from nearly 6 years ago! Tesla delivered a grand total of 5,500 cars in the quarter this was published (Q3 2012). I went on a cleantech tour of Ukraine at that time (Kiev and Crimea, just before Russia invaded Crimea), and there were many highlights, but it’s hard to compete with the handmade electric car below. Women Love Tesla

USA Today published an article yesterday with the headline “Why Tesla ‘has a problem appealing to women’: Electric cars, Elon Musk may be off-putting.”

The article goes on to talk with a couple of women who described why they don’t want a Tesla and list their own reasons — and that’s fine. However, they don’t represent all women, especially many female Tesla owners and female Tesla fans planning to purchase a Tesla.
