Another month is over (long over, actually) and it’s time for another update on what actually changed in the solar industry in that time period. Additionally, we got a significant look at new or updated professional forecasts for the solar industry in various arenas. Read below to see the big solar news of August.
This is the second publication of what the CleanTechnica team calls Pravduh About Tesla. For those who somehow missed it, about 4 month ago Elon Musk got fed up with all of the media publishing FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt) articles about Tesla, and in some cases outright misinformation. So, he had an idea.
In the coming months, with some timing and volume variations by region, you will be able to choose from many affordable, generous range, compelling, and all-around-capable EVs that are coming on to the market. Whilst the Tesla Model 3 Standard Range is arguably the most keenly anticipated of the bunch, all of these EVs are great cars, much better than any fossil fuel vehicle (FFV) equivalent.
I’m restarting regular US renewable energy reports here on CleanTechnica. However, this time around, I’m making them quarterly reports instead of monthly reports. Quarterly reports are better at capturing the trends, and some other organizations do contribute monthly updates.

In our first week tracking Tesla headlines across major media outlets, several things stood out to us. One of the big takeaways was that a few major media sites routinely publish a ton of articles about Tesla. Furthermore, those same media sites have demonstrated an overall negative slant on the company.
I’m a huge fan of the media and high-quality journalism. The free press is a cornerstone of democracy, and much more. The largest media outlets in the world have the resources, passion, and expertise to do tremendous investigative reporting that is invaluable to society. But they are dropping the ball on Tesla, misleading consumers in a highly biased manner.
CleanTechnica’s Maarten Vinkhuyzen recently took a deep dive into a UBS report about the Tesla Model 3. The finding was that the report demonstrated tremendous ignorance at best or intentionally misleading nonsense at worst.
When companies report earnings, the financial news mentions how the company’s revenue and earnings per Share (EPS) performed against professional estimates. If a company beats both, the stock price will usually go higher. And if they miss both, the stock price will go the opposite way, lower. If either misses, financial analysts will ask management questions on the conference call to get a better idea of how the underlying business is doing.
Despite intense media scrutiny around Tesla’s Model 3 “production hell” ramp, and Elon Musk’s take-Tesla-private drama, Tesla now has the #1 best selling car in the US. You may think that was a typo, but read on.
