Siemens Gamesa Named Preferred Supplier For Japanese Offshore Wind Farm

Spanish offshore wind giant Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy announced last month that it had received its first preferred supplier nomination for the Japanese offshore wind industry, being nominated as preferred supplier for the Northern Akita offshore pipeline in Japan which has a capacity of up to 455 megawatts (MW).

The global offshore wind market has grown by 16% over the last 12 months, according to new figures from the UK's wind energy trade body, RenewableUK, with the United States accounting for nearly half of the rapid global growth. 


Ørsted Set To Build New Jersey’s First Offshore Wind Farm

The component parts of GE Renewable Energy's mammoth 12 megawatt (MW) Haliade-X wind turbine prototype set for installation in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, continue to make appearances, with the turbine tower arriving late last week, just before the first turbine blade made its first appearance outside the company's factory in Cherbourg, France.

Ørsted Awards First US-Based Offshore Wind Vessel Contract

Danish offshore wind energy giant Ørsted entered into a partnership with offshore wind support services company WindServe Marine to construct two purpose-built offshore Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs), the company's first such contract in the United States.
