Car2go recently announced that it has expanded into Chicago, where it now has 400 vehicles available — the smart fortwo and Mercedes-Benz CLA and GLA models. Kendell Kelton, the Communications Manager for Car2go North America, answered some questions about the expansion for CleanTechnica.

ForeFront Power To Install 3.7 Megawatts Of Solar At 13 California School Sites

ForeFront Power has been selected by three California school districts to install 3.7 megawatts (MW) of solar photovoltaic capacity across 13 locations. Over 5 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity is expected to be generated each year by the solar canopy installations. Bryan Taylor, the company’s Public Sector Sales Director, answered some questions for CleanTechnica about the projects.

50% Of Industrial Climate Change Emissions Tied To Fossil Fuel Companies

The Rocky Mountain Institute recently released a report titled Decarbonization Pathways for Mines: A Headlamp in the Darkness, in which it was stated that in 2015, half of worldwide industrial greenhouse gas emissions came from 50 companies working in fossil-fuel industries. Thomas Kirk and Jessie Lund from RMI answered some questions about the report for CleanTechnica.

Renault Zoe Comes To Australia

Australians can now buy the electric Renault Zoe, which is now the most affordable mass-market electric car in the country. The pricing starts at $47,490 AUD. Its gas-powered counterpart, the Clio, is about $19,900 AUD. The electric vehicle is available at four dealerships: in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth. (Read our review of the Renault Zoe.)

Western States Could Save $600 Million By Using More Renewable Energy

The Rocky Mountain Institute analyzed a case study of Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association, a coop that provides power to more than 1 million consumers in Colorado, Nebraska, New Mexico, and Wyoming. RMI found the coop’s customers could save over $600 million through 2030 if the co-op integrated more renewable energy resources instead of relying on its array of fossil fuel power plants.

Solar Power Legislation In Illinois Could Generate $250-350 Million In Tax Revenue

Illinois Governor Rauner recently signed two bills to support solar development conditions for Illinois farmers and rural areas, SB 486 and SB 2591. The first creates a standard tax assessment value for local solar farms in Illinois. The second sets standards for the construction and deconstruction of solar farms on agricultural land. Lesley McCain, the Executive Director of the Illinois Solar Energy Association, answered some questions for CleanTechnica about the legislation.
