Hyundai & Aurora Partner To Develop Level 4 Autonomous Vehicles By 2021

Hyundai Motor Company and Aurora, a leader in autonomous vehicle technology, have announced a strategic partnership to bring self-driving Hyundai vehicles to market by 2021. You may not recognize the name Aurora yet, but you probably recognize the name of its CEO, Chris Urmson, who was the CTO of self-driving cars at Google for several years. His fellow co-founders at Aurora are Sterling Anderson, who was most recently director of Tesla Autopilot, and Drew Bagnell, who was previously Uber’s autonomy and perception lead.

All New Flyer Facilities Can Now Manufacture Xcelsior CHARGE Battery-Electric Buses

New Flyer of America Inc., the largest transit bus and motorcoach manufacturer and parts distributor in North America, announced this week that its Anniston, Alabama, facility completed its first full build of an Xcelsior CHARGE. The bus is an entirely electric, zero emissions, and is indeed a heavy-duty transit bus. I enjoyed a ride in the New Flyer XcelsiorÆ Electric Bus last year. I found it quiet, comfy, and smooth. It was the best ride quality I’ve found on a bus.

Nissan LEAF UK Prices Announced — Full List

Nissan hasn’t publicly announced 2019 Nissan LEAF pricing and specs (even though we found some scoops about those), but it has just released the full range of pricing for this year’s version of the “world’s best-selling electric vehicle.” (Technically, the LEAF is no longer the best selling electric car in the world — the BAIC EC-Series is — but it has still seen the most customer deliveries in history.)

Company Car Drivers Save Thousands Of Pounds By Going Electric

I quite enjoyed Andy Mile’s piece on EV Obsession relating his charging conversations. He lives in the UK. I live in Florida. When discussing costs of “fuel” for an all-electric car, it seems my experience is even less expensive than his. Miles relates a fine experience of savings on fuel for his electric car, but I tend to have free charging everywhere I go (and no home charging). The other savings he relates is certainly a major consideration as well — the sheer savings of EV maintenance compared to maintenance of an ICE car is remarkable. Beyond personal use, company car drivers could save thousands of pounds/dollars by going electric.

Renault’s 2030 Vision: SYMBIOZ

Renault is further electrifying cars, vans, trucks, and entire fleets. It is entering regions few companies bring their electric cars to. It plans to have 8 fully electric vehicles on the market by 2022 and 12 electrified models. It has also given us a more idealistic visualization of an electric future, one for 2030. Renault recently shared its innovative vision of the electric ecosystems — the SYMBIOZ. It is an integrated house and car that work together in harmony. The home and car will essentially share their energy.

1st Tesla Model 3 Delivery To Regular Customer (Detailed Walkthrough Video)

In day’s world, one man’s experience is now another’s, and another’s. Here’s another glance into the EV that is a sign of the times. Remember those long lines to reserve a Model 3? Those weren’t employees in line — they got to reserve earlier in quiet. Those would become the first Model 3 owners who weren’t Tesla/SpaceX employees, huge investors, or close company friends. Now, those customers are starting to reserve their Tesla Model 3 orders.

Here it is — the Model 3.

Biggest Response To London’s Increased “T-Charge” = Shift To Public Transit

Some cities are working to quell city air pollution faster than others. UK cities are beginning to charge higher-polluting vehicles to drive into their center. As one big example, London’s “T-Charge” is increasing the cost of a journey by up to £21.50 for the highest polluting cars and vans. This charge is shifting more drivers to rail and bus services. EVs, especially small ones such as an electric smart car, provide some relief for people who need to drive — but transit is a key.
