Here we go again. Porsche just announced that it’s launching an internal investigation into suspected engine manipulation, according to Bild am Sonntag (BamS). It has informed KBA, Germany’s automotive watchdog, the Stuttgart prosecutor’s office, and authorities here in the US of the matter.
Porsche’s recent attempt to troll Tesla by emphasizing the Taycan’s repeated acceleration ability ended up being quickly rebuffed. A Tesla Model 3 Performance owner demonstrated consistent acceleration launches 31 times back to back over a 28 minute period (albeit, within legal speed limits). Instead of EVs trolling other EVs, why don’t we just highlight EV powertrains’ advantages over fossils instead?

The European passenger plug-in market grew slightly above average last month (42% in August vs 41% year to date). The continent registered some 30,000 plug-in cars, pulling the year-to-date (YTD) count to some 242,000 deliveries and pushing the 2018 market share to 2.3%. For the month of August, the market share was 2.7%.
We have some positive and concrete news from Germany’s electric car industry — Porsche’s installation of four 800V superfast chargers in Berlin, which hint that it is ready to catch up to leading EV producers. This is still a test run, though, and we hope to see more concrete news to follow.
