The German automotive market has opened the floodgates to plugin electric vehicles, with December setting yet another record sales month. Nearly 83,000 plugin vehicles (PEVs) were registered in December, resulting in an amazing 27% market share.
Despite the overall automotive market being in the doghouse, -14% year over year (YoY), Europe’s passenger plugin market is on fire, having score a record 166,000 registrations in November (+198% YoY). That placed last month’s plugin share at 16% share — 8% full electrics (BEV).

The German plugin vehicle market had yet another record month in October, with a little of over 48,000 units registered, and this time it was full electrics (BEVs) driving the market forward, up 365%(!) to 23,158 units. They helped plugin vehicles as a whole jump an amazing 303% last month, with the plugin vehicle share reaching a record 18% (8.4% BEV).
The German plugin vehicle market had another record month in September, with a little over 41,000 registrations. Plugin hybrid (PHEV) registrations continued going through the roof, up 463% to 20,127 units, helping plugins as a whole jump an amazing 437% last month.
