Honda has committed to “total electrification” of all its European sales by 2025, and it’s starting now with the Honda e. The company’s first all-electric, urban model for Europe has received more than 22,000 expressions of interest and is already available for reservations in the UK, Germany, France, and Norway

Honda EV-Cub

Finally, Honda Electrifies Its Cub, Introduces EV-Cub (Don’t Ask Production Date)

June 15th, 2017 | by Nicolas Zart

If you've been to Japan, or in certain parts of Asia, you will have seen those little Honda scooters, sometimes hauling more than their fair share. Honda's venerable Cub has been driven million of miles with no-frills practicality in mind. Yet, they have one little, tiny problem. They use gasoline and pollute

Volkswagen & Ford vs. Tesla? Or Volkswagen & Ford vs. Toyota & Honda?

December 1st, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

Yes, the Tesla Cybertruck stole the thunder from Ford's Mustang Mach-E, which was dominating electric transportation news for a few days, and it seems like ages ago that Volkswagen unveiled the ID.3. Nonetheless, as much as we want to know what the consumer demand will be for the Tesla Cybertruck, perhaps a bigger question is trying to figure out where Ford and Volkswagen are headed with electric vehicles. Tesla will be here, Tesla will sell EVs — a lot of them. What about Ford? What about Volkswagen? And which models and brands are their electric vehicle offerings really competing with

Nissan, Toyota, Infiniti, & MINI USA Sales Down In October & 2019; Hyundai, Kia, Honda, BMW, Genesis, & Volvo Sales Up

November 11th, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

Tracking monthly US auto sales has been a fascinating endeavor this past year. Unfortunately, we don't get data from some brands — Tesla, all Ford Motor Company brands, GM brands, and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles brands, Jaguar Land Rover no longer report monthly sales. However, there are 17 brands that do report monthly US sales, so let's have a look at them

Tesla Model 3 vs. Honda Accord — Comparable 5 Year Cost to Own

September 30th, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

I published an analysis the other day showing the Tesla Model 3 undercutting the Toyota Camry on a 5 year cost of ownership forecast. The plan for a while has been to update these cost of ownership comparisons since prices, tax credits, and other matters have changed in the past several months. I honestly did not expect the Model 3 to come out on top after all of the changes, but it clearly did so in the comparison with the Camry. With that comparison in mind, it's pretty certain where a similar 5 year cost of ownership comparison with the Honda Accord is going to go

Confusing Honda Accord & Toyota Camry Purchases … Tesla Model 3 vs. Mercedes C-Class — #CleanTechnica Top 20

September 29th, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

It's time for another roundup of the 20 most popular stories of the week. As proof of the fact that you don't even need "Tesla" in the headline to have a Tesla story go viral, the top story of the week was about the Honda Accord & Toyota Camry while silently being about the Tesla Model 3. The second most popular story compared the Model 3 to two top sellers on the other end of its gradient of competitors, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi

Honda Accord & Toyota Camry Buyers — What The Heck Are You Doing?

September 22nd, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

Honda and Toyota have been smart, logical choices for American car buyers for decades. Once upon a time, they were the new kids on the block and they had to prove themselves with strong "performance for the money" or "value for the money" propositions. They did so, repeatedly, and they grew their market shares as a result

US Auto Sales Down For Nissan, Jeep, Toyota, Ford, Chrysler, Dodge, Chevrolet, Honda, Mercedes, Infiniti, Audi, Mini, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Buick, & Cadillac In 2019

July 13th, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

We primarily cover the electric vehicle market here on CleanTechnica. However, context is important and that means sometimes looking at the broader automobile market. Therefore, I collect US auto sales data from almost all automakers on a monthly basis and take a look at their sales trends. I also split out car/sedan sales data for these automakers since the dominant, mass-market electric vehicle currently on the market is a car (the Tesla Model 3)

Shocker: Tesla Model 3 vs. Honda Civic — 15 Cost Comparisons Over 5 Years

June 14th, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

When I got started on this analysis, I thought, "Well, looks like we finally have a car that is going to come out with a lower 5 year cost than a Tesla Model 3." Nonetheless, I was super curious to see the results and see how close the Model 3 came to different Civic trims. I did not expect that the Model 3 would beat the Civic on cost in several scenarios. Does it? Does it, really

US Auto Sales Down For Audi, Honda, Infiniti, Mercedes, Nissan, & Toyota In 2019

June 5th, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

We won't have US sales figures for Tesla, Ford, and GM for another month — and even then we'll have to estimate how they were split out across the quarter — but we know one thing for sure: Tesla's sales are up heavily compared to the same period in 2018. For other automakers, not so much

Tesla Model 3 Cheaper Than Honda Accord … Gas Car Dealers In Norway Suffering … New BYD Electric Vehicles — #CleanTechnica Top 20

June 3rd, 2019 | by Zachary Shahan

The 20 most popular CleanTechnica articles of May are in a list below. First, though, I'll highlight some of my favorites. Well, the #1 story on the top 20 is also perhaps my favorite, but I wrote it, so I'm biased. It is a cost comparison between the Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus and several Honda Accord trims. Guess who wins
