Tesla Fanboys Chat About Cadillac Lyriq (Video)
Longtime Tesla insider David Havasi and I recently sat down together (virtually) to watch the virtual unveiling of the Cadillac Lyriq together and then talk about it afterward.

We’re here with another episode of Tesla Inside Out, a series on our CleanTech Talk podcast channel. This one is a special “Energy Independence Weekend” episode focused on a mix of the big EV news this year (more potent this week than ever) and David Havasi’s history in the industry (in Tesla from 2012–2019 and outside of it since then).
In this episode of our Tesla Inside Out podcast interview series, CleanTechnica CEO Zach Shahan sits down once again with co-host David Havasi, former Tesla Senior Delivery/Product/Marketing Lead, to discuss fun and interesting stories from David’s 7 years at Tesla.
With social distancing being the name of the game these days, longtime Tesla insider David Havasi and I are no longer able to jump into a Tesla and chat about Tesla together for an hour. Perhaps that’s for the best, as it gives us the opportunity to steer the “Tesla Inside Out” series into a potentially better direction.
For the latest edition of Tesla Inside Out (which was recorded before the COVID-19 crisis started to really unfold in the US), David Havasi and I focused on the wonders of Tesla performance and Tesla test drives.
As you may have seen by now, 7 year Tesla insider David Havasi and I have been getting together in recent months to talk about the deep history of Tesla from an insider (David) and outsider (me) perspective in a podcast and video chat series called Tesla Inside Out. The thing that triggered this chat was recent data from BloombergNEF showing that battery energy density has nearly tripled in the past decade.
In this episode of Tesla Inside Out*, David Havasi tells us about some of the challenges (and fun) of delivering early Tesla Model S sedans to customers around the time of Hurricane Sandy in New York City (back in 2012).
Resuming our “Tesla Inside Out” series, this video picks up where David Havasi and I left off last time, chuckling about a wild DIY Tesla delivery story. David and a team of early 2012 employees built a trailer to deliver early Model S’s without having any real clue what they were doing. Luckily, they got the job done. He also mentioned a funny story about a Miami delivery truck in highlighting their overall novice delivery truck awareness back in 2012.
Continuing our discussion of Tesla and David Havasi’s long history at Tesla, we took up where we left off, talking about early Model S days at Tesla. At the time that, Tesla had a gigantic factory in Fremont with almost nothing in it other than big, wild dreams and post-apocalyptic images of Blade Runner and The Highlander flashing through their heads as they looked across the expansive space.
I recently met a gentleman named David Havasi while charging our Tesla Model 3 at a ChargePoint station at a Whole Foods I frequently visit. He recognized me from CleanTechnica and I quickly learned he worked at Tesla for 7 years, until just recently. We got talking, talking, talking, and talking. I wasn’t sure if he’d be camera shy to repeat some of what he told me (or more) on camera, but it turned out he very much wasn’t shy — he had actually worked on Broadway before working at Tesla!
