The second quarter of 2022 is shaping up to be a monstrous one for Tesla, according to a note written by Trip Chowdhry of Global Equities Research. Chowdhry noted in his monthly checks on Tesla’s Fremont factory that “May 2022 is off to an extremely strong Production, Shipments, and Deliveries.”
He pointed to recent photos of the factory, which show more shipping trucks this quarter compared with the last one. He also estimated that Tesla has increased its number of shipping trucks by at least 20%.
Chowdhry said in the note that “2Q is shaping to be a Monstrous Quarter.”
Teslarati added that there’s also the possibility that Tesla is using the Fremont factory to help pick up the slack from Shanghai, which has recently reopened and is doing well after closing temporarily to help prevent the spread of Covid-19. Teslarati also noted that the Fremont factory has an annual production run rate of 600,00 cars, or 150,000 per quarter.
Inside EVs pointed out that there was something unique about Chowdhry. He isn’t just some analyst using only models to predict numbers. And he isn’t just looking at headlines or Twitter to base his opinions on. He is probably the only analyst that personally checks up on the Fremont factory on a regular basis.
It’s pretty common for both Tesla’s supporters and critics to use drone footage and images of parking lots for their predictions. In Texas, Jeff Roberts and Joe Tegtmeyer have been an incredible help documenting the progress of Giga Texas from the start of its construction.
I have a feeling that Tesla’s next few years will have monstrous quarters. Tesla’s been on a record-breaking spree for the past year or so now, and it’s not stopping any time soon. In Q1 2022, Tesla grew its revenue to over $18 billion, for example. This year, both Giga Berlin and Giga Texas opened and are ramping up production.
