Elon Musk, Tesla Cybertruck, & Cyberquad ATV To Appear On Jay Leno’s Garage

CNBC just released the teaser for the 5th season of Jay Leno’s Garage. The video shows Elon Musk, the Tesla Cybertruck, and the Tesla Cyberquad ATV. Perhaps these are from only one episode that will cover Tesla, but the specific date of this episode is not yet known.

CNBC just released the teaser for the 5th season of “Jay Leno’s Garage.” The video shows Elon Musk, the Tesla Cybertruck, and the Tesla Cyberquad ATV. Perhaps these are from only one episode that will cover Tesla, but the specific date of this episode is not yet known.

The next season of Jay Leno’s Garage starts May 20, and the show will air every Wednesday at 10:00 ET onwards.

Just recently, Jay Leno released some old footage from when Elon Musk visited his garage in 2008 to present the first-generation Tesla Roadster. After almost 13 years, the CEO of this Silicon Valley automaker will be part of this show along with a huge legacy.

In January, Jay Leno, Elon Musk, and Tesla Design Chief Franz von Holzhausen were spotted outside SpaceX HQ, which is adjacent to the Tesla Design Center. By the looks of it all, the crew was recording an episode of “Jay Leno’s Garage.”

Tesla is currently on the hunt for its next Gigafactory in the United States, which will initially only produce the Tesla Cybertruck that was originally scheduled to go into production next year. More recently, Musk has indicated this timeline might get pulled forward a little.

A few months ago Elon Musk ran a poll on Twitter about whether the Cybertruck Gigafactory should be built in Texas, to which 80% out of 305,724 votes came in favor of this state. Texas already has a SpaceX launch site in Boca Chica, Texas — and since the SpaceX rockets and the Cybertruck share the same 30x cold-rolled stainless steel as their outer shell, this location is appealing from a manufacturing and supply-chain point of view.

Multiple central US states have been pursuing Tesla and Elon Musk for building the company’s next ultra-large manufacturing facility within their borders. Recently, we learned that the state of Missouri has offered Tesla around $1 billion in tax holiday and reduced cost of land to build the Cybertruck Gigafactory in Joplin, MO.

Details of the $1 billion offer include:

• A 1,042-acre site that would be sold at a 50% discount to Tesla.

• A 100% tax break for 12 years.

That said, a recent tweet from Musk threatening to leave California and put its HQ in Texas implies that he has already decided on Texas as the location of the next gigafactory, maybe.

On a side note, Musk answered a few questions last month about the design of the production Cybertruck. The production version according to him will be trimmed down in size by about 3% compared to the prototype shown at the unveiling.

Additionally, when asked about the truck’s wading depth, he noted that the Cybertruck will be able to float for a little while. In response to another question about the color choices for the Cybertruck, Elon Musk said, you will be able to wrap it in any color — very cool.

I don't like paywalls. You don't like paywalls. Who likes paywalls? Here at CleanTechnica, we implemented a limited paywall for a while, but it always felt wrong — and it was always tough to decide what we should put behind there. In theory, your most exclusive and best content goes behind a paywall. But then fewer people read it! We just don't like paywalls, and so we've decided to ditch ours. Unfortunately, the media business is still a tough, cut-throat business with tiny margins. It's a never-ending Olympic challenge to stay above water or even perhaps — gasp — grow. So ...
