DÆrik’s YouTube focuses on how the ride both feels much better and, as you can see from the graph above, is smoother. It’s even smoother in Sport mode, and is much smoother in Standard Mode.
My Tesla Adventure also put up a short video on the new suspension and Eli focused more on performance and comparing the car to the Model 3 than ride quality. This is another piece of the puzzle to making the Model S superior to the Model 3 in every way. Eli thinks this makes it feel closer to the Model 3 than it did before.
I also think it is only a matter of time before Tesla adds a track mode to the Model S, and maybe even the Model X.
Conclusion
The engineering update is looking like it is more significant than we first thought. Buyers looking for a larger vehicle than the Model 3 can be happy about all these improvements and the small price decrease in the base Model S and Model X that appeared last week.

I have been a software engineer for over 30 years, first developing EDI software, then developing data warehouse systems. Along the way, I've also had the chance to help start a software consulting firm and do portfolio management. In 2010, I took an interest in electric cars because gas was getting expensive. In 2015, I started reading CleanTechnica and took an interest in solar, mainly because it was a threat to my oil and gas investments. Follow me on Twitter @atj721 Tesla investor.
