Taiwanese electric scooter startup Gogoro has a sharp design, smart engineering, and massive capital behind it. Now, it’s taking its über-clever, battery swapping electric scooters to the big time by partnering with DHL and Taiwan Post to supply the two shipping giants with Gogoro 2 utility scooters.

That’s not an order for a few dozen electric scooters. That’s, more likely, an order for a few hundred electric scooters over the long haul. Enough scooters, in other words, to ensure that Gogoro has a future, regardless of consumer/commercial acceptance.

But wait, there’s more!!

PGO will also be adding big numbers to Gogoro’s order books over the next few years. It has signed on to use Gogoro’s EV batteries in its future electric scoots, bringing us all one step closer to a standard, swappable battery. PGO is kind of a big deal, if you didn’t know — it manufactures Genuine Scooters here in the US and Canada.

There’s no word on when the first electric Buddy might appear on US shores, but you can bet it’ll be fun. What do you think? Is that a bike you might be interested in buying, or do you think the universal battery swap has a long way yet to go before it’s ready for prime time? Let us know what you think of Gogoro’s plans in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
