Editor’s note: Ironically, the home of the first North American Jaguar I-PACE is just a few minutes away from me. CleanTechnica was invited to attend the handover, but it was the same day that I was flying to Brussels to present at AEC2018. One of our Tesla Shuttlers in the region, who picked me up from Tampa International Airport upon my return and who I first wrote a bit about here, was happy to cover the news, though, and wrote his inaugural CleanTechnica article to mark the occasion. He also asked Jaguar a few interesting questions and received some responses that are included at the end of the article. Check it all out below, and give the Jaguar I-PACE and Jonathan (who drives a Tesla Model 3 here in Southwest Florida) a warm welcome. — Zachary Shahan

Mark and Holly Pascarella of Lakewood Ranch, Florida, take delivery of the first Jaguar I-PACE to be retailed in North America. The Jaguar I-PACE is the first fully electric vehicle to be offered by the Jaguar brand.

Zoom in from outer space to a planet adjusting en masse to electric transportation from the combustion engine, and you will find Tesla having dominated the field for quite some time. Now, Jaguar is ready to try to change that and has quite the product to make it happen.

The I-PACE is set for November sales and is ready for the US market. Actually, deliveries just started. Arriving quarters before its competitors enter the US market, Jaguar delivered the first North American I-PACE to the Pascarella family in suburban Tampa Bay/Sarasota, Florida. We look right now to the first I-PACE family in the United States, living just a bit south of us in between our home and CleanTechnica Director Zach Shahan’s home.

A mortgage lender and a realtor along with their three beloved daughters purchased I-PACE #1, a now smiling family that you can see posing in the Florida sun with their new electric crossover.

Mark Pascarella tells the press, “I was never impressed with the interiors or looks of the [Tesla], but when I saw the I-PACE, I said that’s something I’d like to drive.” And drive it they will. The Pascarella family is about to watch their eldest daughter graduate high school and their twins are in their second year of high school. During this key time in their lives, it seems to be the perfect time to transition to all-electric transportation.

The Pascarella family is also no stranger to understanding quality and luxury. They have owned a number of Jaguar vehicles, including two XKRs, two F-types, and an F-pace. The I-PACE has an EPA-estimated range of 234 miles. Pricing starts at $70,495. Through the couple’s hard work and perseverance, they have helped numerous families gain homes in the Sarasota-Manatee area. Now, they are able to see their household experience the “gain of gasless” transit.

Holly Pascarella is an award-winning realtor who has also worked alongside her spouse Mark for quite some time. This delivery will continue the family’s use of innovation integrated with people-centered objectivity. The clean energy use of all-electric luxury will allow them to continue to deliver on these values to their community while improving their carbon footprint. Whether it is driving to a game of golf, an event for the girls, or to a local investment meeting, the Pascarellas are sure to make full use of their incredible new car.

Here’s more on the I-PACE and Jaguar’s approach and thoughts, responses from Jaguar Land Rover’s Amna Qureshi:

Question: Tell us about the Jaguar I-PACE — what you think makes it stand out from its peers, features, benefits, etc.?

Amna Qureshi (AQ): The 2019 Jaguar I-PACE joins the ‘PACE’ family of Jaguar SUVs and is the first battery electric vehicle (BEV) to be offered by the Jaguar brand. The I-PACE offers customers an exciting design heavily influenced by the concept vehicle, revealed in 2016; which in turn was heavily influenced by the C-X75 supercar concept. Featuring a number of smart interior storage solutions and interior space normally found in a vehicle a size above, the I-PACE takes advantage of the inherent benefits found with EV packaging, all while offering the driving dynamics expected of all Jaguar vehicles. Featuring a 90kWh battery powering Jaguar-designed electric motors placed on the front and rear axles, the I-PACE delivers an EPA certified all-electric range of up to 234 miles and 0–60mph acceleration in 4.5 seconds on its way to a top speed of 124mph. The 432 pouch-cell lithium-ion battery charges from empty to 80 percent in approximately 40 minutes when plugged into a 100kW DC fast charger.

Q: How do you see the new electric car versus your gasoline offerings?

AQ: Jaguar has built the I-PACE as a flagship for the future of the company. Not only does it deliver the brand’s traditional levels of performance, it does so more efficiently. The move to more sustainable vehicle technology will only gather pace in the years ahead and the I-PACE puts Jaguar at the forefront of this shift.

Q: Do you see potential lower service costs with the electric vehicle being a negative for the dealership model?

AQ: Generally speaking, electric vehicles typically do require less service, which we see as a large benefit to our customers. As with all Jaguar vehicles, I-PACE customers also benefit from Jaguar EliteCare, a best-in-class ownership package offering:

— 5 year / 60,000 mile new vehicle limited warranty
— 5 year / 60,000 mile complimentary scheduled maintenance
— 5 year / 60,000 mile 24/7 roadside assistance
— 5 year / unlimited mile Jaguar InControl® Remote and Protect™
— 8 year / 100,000 mile battery warranty; up to 70 percent state of health
