The Fronius Symo Hybrid is a single product which has multiple functions. It acts like a battery inverter, hybrid inverter, controller with system monitoring, and a battery charging system. The Symo Hybrid is now compatible with the LG Chem RESU storage system, and of course it works with the Fronius Solar Battery. Thomas Mühlberger, Product Management Solar Energy at Fronius International GmbH, answered some questions about it for CleanTechnica.
1. How long does it take to connect the Fronius Symo Hybrid with the LG Chem RESU storage systems?
As soon as the battery and the inverter are mounted on the wall it takes about 60-90 minutes to install the electrical connection and do the commissioning via Smart phone.
2. How did you make the Fronius Symo Hybrid compatible with the LG Chem RESU storage systems?
The compatibility refers mainly to three major topics. The first is to coordinate the communication protocol between the two devices in order that they can transfer data during operation, perform updates and so on. The second is to develop the measures needed to guarantee a perfectly safe system. In our case this led to the development of the Fronius Checkbox. And third, we added a few operation routines to the energy management within the inverter in order to treat the battery in an optimal way during operation. This includes e.g. charge/discharge routines, the operation within certain SOC limits, a preservation charging mode and so on.
3. Where can the Fronius Symo Hybrid system be purchased?
Fronius Symo Hybrid is currently available in AU, AT, BE, BG, CY, CZ, DE, DK, ES, FX, GR, HR, LU, MK, MT, NL, NZ, PF, PL, UK.
4. What is the price?
5. Is the product for residences, businesses, or both?
6. Is the Fronius Symo Hybrid compatible with a home EV charger and a home storage battery system?
Fronius Symo Hybrid is compatible with the Fronius Solar Battery and LG Chem RESU.
