Tesla has confirmed that it will bring the highly anticipated Tesla Model 3 to the 2018 Paris Motor Show, marking just the second official appearance of the Model 3 on the continent since its debut. The show will be held from October 4–14 at the Porte de Versailles and will whet the appetites of many reservation holders who have been eagerly awaiting official news of the European launch of the Model 3, which is expected in the first half of 2019.

The appearance was confirmed by Tesla, which noted that it would also have the Model S and X in attendance, complemented by the Tesla Powerwall. The objective all along for Tesla has been to make one billion dollars accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy, and that applies not only to its vehicles, but to its less sexy energy products.

The ability for homeowners to visit a single company for a sustainable vehicle, the energy to power it from a residential rooftop solar system, and to store it with a Powerwall home battery allows humans around the world to make that dream a reality. It is not the low-cost version of the dream that we need, but it is increasingly accessible to more and more people around the world as Tesla continues to scale its operations up to more people and out to more geographies around the world.

Here in the United States, Tesla has opened up orders for all configurations of the Model 3 that are currently available, to all buyers. Over the weekend, Tesla sent out an email to reservation holders noting that it had a limited number of Model 3s available at its service centers for immediate delivery, noting that the offer would be extended to the public as of September 10th, 2018.

The flood of reservations made for the Model 3 showed the automakers of the world that they were ready for a more affordable, long-range electric vehicle. The conversion of tens of thousands of those reservations to orders and then deliveries in the last few months alone has confirmed that Tesla is working to stabilize its production and delivery systems to support the flood. That has amounted to a near tripling of volume for Tesla at its delivery centers.

Prior to the Model 3, Tesla was delivering an average of just under 2,000 vehicles per week globally. That number has soared to over 7,000 per week as it has ramped up production of Model 3. This is a massive jump for the automaker, but represents the first of many such step changes in its internal work processes, and one that will soon be coming to its European team in preparation for the Model 3 arriving there in early 2019.
