Renault Zoe Comes To Australia
Australians can now buy the electric Renault Zoe, which is now the most affordable mass-market electric car in the country. The pricing starts at $47,490 AUD. Its gas-powered counterpart, the Clio, is about $19,900 AUD. The electric vehicle is available at four dealerships: in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth. (Read our review of the Renault Zoe.)
The electric Zoe has been in production since 2012, and early on had a rated range of 130–150 miles per charge (according to the overly optimistic/unrealistic NEDC rating system). That figure can now be increased to 250 miles with an optional battery pack. The very small EV has been a top seller in Europe, and even globally. Through December 2017, global sales were about 93,000 units. France is where the largest number has been sold, followed by Germany, the UK, and Norway.
According to MotorTrader, the used Zoe is the fastest selling used vehicle in the UK. Australia shares some cultural ties with the UK, so perhaps the Zoe will sell well there too, but there are many other factors at play that may make it a more difficult market for a small car.
