The complete list of laws broken by eco-rapper Dephree as he preached his anti-pollution message to commuters on the oldest highway in America this morning is still not final. His white privilege shone through as the LAPD didn’t just shoot him down, and let him enjoy a happy ending fit for any Hollywood stunt performer.

LA Times Metro reporter Benjamin Oreskes has the full story, with a series of short video clips on his twitter feed here. And a longer story here. Still, Duphree has a new fan in me because he used his platform to urge commuters to “Fight pollution, not each other.”

Los Angeles’ air quality has gotten worse since Villaraigosa termed out as Mayor, and Garcetti lets an unprecedented amount of affordable housing in central LA be destroyed. Check this map of Ellis Act evictions if you don’t believe me. Then scroll down to the graph that shows how these evictions have increased. As affordable housing disappears, to be replaced by luxury hotels, more Angelenos have to drive further to work.

Above is a helmetcam shot from just north of the busier section of the 110 where Dephree pulled this stunt. And that’s moderate traffic, not even rush hour traffic. Cars are your enemy, not this guy. Had I been commuting on my motorcycle this morning, I would’ve been able to scoot right through the stopped traffic. Although I probably would’ve blown him a kiss as I rode by on my electric motorcycle. This video has better audio quality…

It’s me mother fuckers. #dephree #savethewhales
