Central Californian utility Pacific Gas & Electric (aka PG&E) has announced that customers can now get a $3,000 discount on the purchase of a new second-generation 2018 Nissan LEAF.

This is a monster of a rebate because it stacks on top of the already impressive $7,500 federal tax credit, the $2,500 state rebate for fully electric vehicles, and a $500 PG&E Clean Fuel Rebate program.

Rolling the four together means a total of $13,500 back on an already very affordable $29,995 base price, netting out to just under $16,500 for a next-generation electric vehicle with a very respectable 150 miles (240 kilometers) of range on a single charge.

The deal can be had at any authorized Nissan dealerships, where customers only need to show a copy of a recent bill, valid photo identification, and the official promotional flyer that includes the relevant Fleet Certification Code (which you can get here). Family members of the account holder living at the address are also eligible, with valid photo ID. The discount will then be taken off of the manufacturer’s suggested retail price for a vehicle purchase or finance and is available through July 2, 2018.

“Electric vehicles are a critical part of creating cleaner air and meeting California’s climate goals. Making it easier for customers to adopt EVs helps drivers reduce their environmental impact while supporting our clean energy future – a win for both our customers and the state,” said Steve Malnight, PG&E Corporation’s senior vice president of Strategy and Policy.

PG&E estimates that charging an EV at night on one of its residential EV electricity rate plans is the equivalent of paying $1.20 per gallon — or less than 1/3 of current gasoline pricing in California — to charge up a new Nissan LEAF. Customers in PG&E territory can head over to view PG&E’s online resources to get access to relevant information about PG&E’s plug-in vehicle charging rate plans.

For more information and a handful of additional answers, head on over to PG&E’s Frequently Asked Questions Page or hit up a Nissan dealership in PG&E territory to find a vehicle and get started with a purchase.
