The largest solar power project in Palestine will be launched in the next few days. This project is part of the Noor Palestine Program, which is designed and implemented by the Palestine Investment Fund (PIF).
In a joint venture with ET solution International, Msader for Energy Systems Co., one of leading and specialized companies in the field of solar energy and the first companies to implement such projects in Palestine, will procure, implement, operate and maintain those two projects.

With a total capacity of 17 megawatts, the two projects will be in operation in Jericho and Tubas by end of the year 2018. Those two PV plants will be connected to the electricity distribution network of Jerusalem Distribution Electricity Company (JDECO) and other will be will connected to Tubas Distribution Electricity Company (TDECO). Upon agreements with the PIF, the two PV plants will cover the electricity needs of several beneficiaries in various sectors, including public facilities, industrial, households, and school roofs.

Eng. Ahmad Shawareb, the Executive Director of Msader, after signing the agreement with PIF, said “Palestine needs more of sustainable Solutions that can drive the economy and develop the sector.”

The solar energy projects in Palestine have a strategic economic, social, and political dimension, as they contribute to the creation of jobs for graduates and engineers working in the sector and also to develop their skills, while in the economic dimension, it can achieve an economic savings for beneficiaries by reducing their electricity bills. The two projects are expected to reduce the electricity bill by 50% over 25 years of time.

Investing in such projects can also reduce the need to import electricity from Israel, which constitutes more than 80% of the electricity imported to Palestine, and this can strengthen the steadfastness of the people and reduce the GHG impact which causes climate change.
