WB Mason Receives Ryder-Managed Fleet Of Workhorse E-GEN Electric Vans

The US-based office products dealer W.B. Mason has now taken delivery of its Ryder-managed fleet of Workhorse E-GEN electric, range-extended step vans, a new press release has revealed.

The new Ryder fleet of range-extended electric Workhorse delivery vans will reportedly be used by W.B. Mason as part of the company’s business product delivery operations.

This delivery follows on an announcement in 2017 by W.B. Mason that the company would be leasing Workhorse E-GEN electric vehicles through Ryder, with the idea being to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions that way apparently. Ryder is the primary distributor and service provider for Workhorse’s light and medium duty range-extended electric vehicle fleets.

“Making the switch to electric vehicles with Ryder was easy as we’ve trusted them to support our delivery operations with lease vehicles and maintenance services for over 35 years,” explained Leo J Meehan III, the president and CEO of W.B. Mason. “Ryder’s ChoiceLease Full Service solution, which includes extensive experience in maintenance for advanced vehicle technologies, allows us to mitigate concerns around transitioning to electric vehicles and positions us to promote efficiency and an even better delivery experience for our drivers and customers.”

The press release provides more: “Ryder collaborated with Workhorse to develop the electric vehicle chassis and Morgan Olson, the company that builds the walk-in van bodies for W.B. Mason, to configure a customized truck specification that meets the unique delivery requirements of a W.B. Mason vehicle. The vehicles will be supported by ChargePoint, the world’s leading electric vehicle charging network, as the primary charging infrastructure provider.”

The initial fleet being provided to W.B. Mason will consist of 4 of the Workhorse E-GEN vans in question. These electric, range-extended vans feature a 40 MPGe fuel efficiency reportedly, and are around 6 times more energy/fuel efficient than conventional step vans.

The all-electric range is around 60 miles per full-charge, and the BMW range-extenders provide a further 60 miles of range when fully filled — making for a total possible range of 120 miles, easily enough for most step van delivery work.
