Save A Baby’s Life In Sierra Leone — For Real (#CleanTechnica Video)

There are a lot of things that are exciting and cool about various cleantech products, but when it comes down to it, many of us hardcore cleantech enthusiasts follow this stuff because it saves lives.

Saving any life is great, but there’s something extra special about saving a baby’s life. On the flip side, there’s something extra harsh about seeing or even hearing about a baby’s death.

One cleantech leader* who is clearly in this world out of a concern for human health and quality of life (among other things) is Michael Liebreich. I was lucky enough to spend a bit of time chatting one on one with Michael several years ago in Abu Dhabi. Since then, I think we’ve met up every year over meals, coffee, and meetings to chat about the hottest cleantech news and trends.

This year, before riding with Michael in a Tesla Model X for the first part of the 2018 Global EV Road Trip (EVRT) in the Middle East, I asked him what was new. As usual, he had something interesting going on, but this time it had a more serious feeling than a notable cleantech investment, entrepreneurial idea, or coming conference. Via a personal experience, he had been struck by the harsh reality of premature death that many communities have to live through. Babies in Sierra Leone were routinely losing their lives because of unstable electricity supply in the hospitals there. Michael developed a slim personal connection to this, so was compelled to do something about it.

It was not public yet when I interviewed Michael, but the initiative already had a name — ProjectBo. Simply writing about this doesn’t do it justice, and there’s really only one critical action to take anyway, so I’m going to save you time by not writing more but strongly encouraging you to watch my interview with Michael about this, watch an official ProjectBo video, or at the very least head over to the ProjectBo website and pitch in whatever amount of cash you can (higher = better). On this special Monday, go ahead and help save some babies’ lives in Sierra Leone. Surely, the babies and their families would thank you.

Again, go here to donate.
