JinkoSolar & Asunim Turkey Complete Largest Solar Project In Aegean Region

March 21st, 2018 by

Leading solar company JinkoSolar, in cooperation with Turkish project developer Asunim Turkey ,has completed what is the largest solar project in the entire Aegean Region, a 40.3 megawatt solar farm in Manisa, Turkey.

Though it may not be the most impressive in size compared to some of the solar behemoths being installed around the world, the Manisa solar power plant is notable for its location and the growing amount of solar being installed there.

The Manisa solar power plant is spread across two separate sites that together have a total capacity of 40.3 megawatts (MW), made up of 19.7 MW at one site and 20.6 MW at the other. The projects were built using JinkoSolar’s high-efficiency solar modules and REFUsol 40K string inverters. The two projects were constructed by leading Turkish PV project developer and EPC company Asunim Turkey which, upon completion of these two Manisa power projects, has installed 140 MW worth of solar in Turkey.

“We are extremely pleased to see this contract as an outcome of our steadily growing successful partnership with Asunim Turkey over the last years,” explained Gener Miao, Vice President Global Sales and Marketing of JinkoSolar. “Asunim Turkey, as a trusted local partner, shares and follows the same highest product and service quality levels that we do also apply within Jinko Solar globally which makes us stronger and helps us to maintain our leadership position in the market.”

Turkey has recently been home to an impressive expansion of its solar PV capacity. According to the International Renewable Energy Agency, Turkey only had 832.5 MW worth of solar PV installed at the end of 2016, but just last week it was revealed by SolarPower Europe that Turkey installed 1.79 gigawatts worth of new solar capacity in 2017, a growth of 213% year-over-year, and leading all European countries for 2017 capacity additions.
