Are You Ready For The Next Rimac Electric Hypercar? Concept_Two On The Way?

Are we ready for your next electric hypercar, Rimac? We are, but seriously, this time we want a month-long test drive of it! And no, we won’t crash it.

Mate Rimac has been cutting his teeth in the electric vehicle (EV) scene for over a decade. He was one of the first people we wrote about back when he got Rimac rolling. His electric BMW drag racer proved EVs were ready to take on the old internal combustion engine (ICE), and his achievements have helped cement the eventual electric performance domination of yesterday’s gasoline cars.

And then, there was the Concept_One!

Sleek, particularly striking, a stunning interior in which you feel that you are in a cocooned environment ready to race any Ferrari in sight. 0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds, a mind-boggling 1,224 HP (912.73 kWh), with a top speed of 355 km/h (220.5868 mph) and 1600 Nm (1,181 lb. ft.) of torque. No wonder Hammond crashed it despite its all-wheel torque vectoring. That’s a lot of car to handle. And all of this using a 650V nominal Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (LiNiMnCoO2) battery pack rated at 90 kWh.

The next phase we’ve all been waiting for will happen at the Geneva Motor Show on March 6th. The Rimac Concept_Two? Whatever the name, it promises to be good. Except, well, we don’t really know what it is nor what it promises to do or be. But if the Concept_One is anything to judge by, we’re excited.

Rimac Electric Hypercar Extrapolations

By now, we can expect Mate Rimac to follow in the footsteps of Koenigsegg and other high-end exotic high-performance car companies. The next one will be better, bolder, badder than the previous. How about at least 1000 kWh? Perhaps 400 km/h? How about 400 miles of range? But please, please, please — can you make it $40,000? Many of our readers ask for those specs around that price point. Can’t be that hard, right?

Seriously now, at the very least, an extended test drive would be very welcome. Heck, we’d even settle for a long test ride of the Concept_One, still the #1 EV on our wishlist.

We understand our readers might be as frustrated as we are now. After all, waiting for the next electric hypercar is something many of us have done in one form or another for decades. A whole month and a few days? That still feels like a long time to wait. But thanks, Mate! It’s nice to have another cool electric product around the corner.

In the meantime, we’ll go to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn to get our junky fix of news and teases.
