Nissan Brain-to-Vehicle Technology, New Nissan LEAF, & Nissan IMx At CES
Recent Nissan research has enabled vehicles to interpret signals from the driver’s brain. Is this the first car company that will incorporate such tech into consumer offerings?
“The company’s Brain-to-Vehicle, or B2V, technology promises to speed up reaction times for drivers and will lead to cars that keep adapting to make driving more enjoyable,” Nissan writes. Nissan is demonstrating capabilities of this exclusive technology at the CES 2018 trade show in Las Vegas this week. (Nissan’s booth is #5431, North Hall at the Las Vegas Convention Center, if you want to stop by for a look.)
B2V is the latest development in the Nissan Intelligent Mobility program.
Nissan’s Pioneering Brain-to-Vehicle (B2V) Technology
Nissan explains that technology that reads a driver’s brain waves then communicates certain aspects of those to the electric vehicle. “B2V interprets signals from the driver’s brain to assist with driving and to help the vehicle’s autonomous and manual systems learn from the driver.”
What do you think of this tech? We imagine there’s wide variation in appeal versus concern.
“Also to be featured are the Nissan IMx concept vehicle and the all-new Nissan LEAF. Making its regional debut, the IMx promotes a stronger connection between car and driver. It has a full suite of autonomous driving capabilities, seating for four, and an electric powertrain with more torque than the Nissan GT-R.
“The new generation of the Nissan LEAF, the world’s best-selling electric vehicle, combines the excitement of 100% electric driving with advanced technologies such as ProPILOT (ProPILOT Assist in the U.S.), e-Pedal, and enhanced connectivity. This icon of Nissan Intelligent Mobility went on sale in Japan in October 2017.
