One thing most people can agree on when it comes to renewable energy is that it will displace fossil fuels when the technology becomes the cheaper and more convenient choice. According to a Gallup Poll from March 2017, 7 out of 10 Americans favor the development of alternative energy over oil, gas, and coal, and 59% say protecting the environment is more important than traditional energy.

Why Solar is an Important Solution

While there are plenty of renewable energy sources to look to, solar is by far the most abundant energy source on earth, making it a likely opponent to take on fossil fuels. In fact, solar energy is already making headway.

So, how is solar outshining the others?

All of these factors and more suggest we are indeed evolving from a fossil-fueled economy to one powered by clean and renewable energy, with solar poised to lead the way.

One way to accelerate the transition is by introducing solar energy to our everyday lives — imagine seeing solar panels on your daily commute, looking up and seeing a solar powered billboard, or using solar power to charge your phone at the local bus stop.

The Future of Solar Energy in Daily Life

Sun Pacific Holding Corp ‘SNPW’ is doing all of this and more, building ‘smart cities’ with smart solar bus shelters, solar trash bins, benches, and other street furniture.

The company has patent-pending, non-glass solar panels that are 50% lighter and 40% less expensive to manufacture, 1000+ solar signs in the outdoor advertising marketplace, and is currently operating in multiple cities across the east coast.

Contracts include a 10-year contract with the state of Rhode Island Transportation Authority; a 10-year and projected $63 million contract with Tallahassee, Florida; and as of yesterday, a Letter of Intent to purchase 60 acres of land to build a solar and wind farm with blockchain technology to manage the grid.

The slow and steady approach Sun Pacific is taking by going from community to community, city to city, and state to state with solar solutions is genius. Take the boiling frog parable: if a frog is put suddenly into boiling water it will jump out, but if the frog is put in warm water and brought to a boil slowly it will not realize the change.

Now apply it to solar energy. The transition to renewable energy will not happen overnight and a sudden overhaul of fossil fuels is not likely. But this way, as people begin connecting to wifi at smart bus shelters or recycling bottles in solar trash bins, it will become a mundane part of our everyday lives.

Even in today’s political climate, solar is thriving because businesses and communities are continuing to turn to solar energy to power each and every aspect of their daily lives. The cost to install solar has dropped by more than 70% since 2010 and many of the largest solar employers are in states that have leaned Republican including Texas, Florida, Arizona and North Carolina.

With companies like Sun Pacific, making more affordable solar technology and providing it to communities in unique ways, it is safe to say that solar is indeed on its way to becoming the cheaper and more convenient choice.
