Jaguar I-Pace European Pricing Revealed — €82,000 Starting Price

Initial pricing for the Jaguar I-Pace in the European market has now been revealed (via Autoblog.nl), showing numbers roughly in line with what most observers were expecting. The model is expensive but “affordable” for those who shop in the luxury SUV segment, in other words.

To be more exact, pricing for the Jaguar I-Pace will begin at €82,000 in Europe, with limited “First Edition” models going for around €106,000.

Looking at those prices, one has to wonder a bit if Jaguar is intending to undercut the Tesla Model X on pricing — which would make for an interesting strategy. Pricing for the Tesla Model X begins at $79,500 in the USA, but it starts at €93,335 in the Netherlands (and has similar prices across Europe) due to shipping fees, taxes, etc.

While some may argue that the Tesla Model X will sell better regardless because of better tech, support infrastructure, and specs, I’m not so sure — a slightly lower price and the stylish design and brand association of Jaguar is likely to count for quite a lot with some people. Don’t be too surprised if the Jaguar I-Pace ends up selling quite well.

Green Car Reports provides more: “Straight conversions from Euros to US dollars usually don’t provide the best car-price estimates, but a Redditor attempted to tackle the math to figure out what you might expect to pay for an I-Pace here. … In a few words, it looks like Jaguar’s first fully electric vehicle will undercut the Tesla Model X on price.

“From user tech01x on Reddit (via Jalopnik): Back out the 21% VAT and convert to dollars, it looks like:
I-PACE S: $76,400 — 18″ wheels, LED headlights, Meridian audio system
I-PACE SE: $83,864 — 20″ wheels, adaptive cruise control, leather, power tailgate
I-PACE HSE: $90,387 — 18 way power adjustable seats, surround audio, other stuff
I-PACE First Edition: $98,773 — adds heads up display, air suspension, and sunroof”

A couple of other things that are worth noting here:

— Jaguar I-Pace deliveries are expected to begin in Europe sometime in Summer 2018.
— All versions of the model will feature a 90 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack.
— Jaguar Land Rover has reportedly already received over 25,000 orders for the I-Pace.
— Ordering hasn’t even begun yet in the US. That doesn’t open until March 2018.

Taken together, I reiterate my earlier comment that I expect the Jaguar I-Pace to sell quite well.
