Santa Delivering Free Chocolate Boxes In UK Via Renault Zoe (#SantaGoesElectric)

Those living in some of England’s larger cities who wouldn’t mind getting a free box of Montezuma’s Christmas chocolates may be interested to learn about an ad campaign that Renault Retail UK is running.

The campaign actually began on the 4th, but runs through the 7th — so it’s not too late for those in Manchester, Birmingham, Cannock, and possibly Cardiff to take part (but those in London are now out of luck since those deliveries took place on the 4th).

So, what do you have to do to take part? Tweet #SantaGoesElectric to @RenaultRetailUK. Yeah, it’s as simple as that. If you do so, then a Santa in a Renault Zoe may well deliver a box of chocolates to your house on the day that he’s in town.

So, when is/was he in which city? On December 4th, he was in West London. On December 5th, he was in Cardiff. On the 6th, he’s in Cannock and Birmingham. And on the 7th, he’ll be in Manchester.

The press release provides a bit more on the details: “Santa can only deliver gifts to those who tweet him @RenaultRetailUK using the hashtag #SantaGoesElectric and he needs to keep moving all day until he uses a whole electric charge — which will take him approximately 112–186 miles in a new Renault Zoe.”

“With the help of the public to direct him around their city, Santa can calculate just how far his Renault Zoe can make it and how many gifts can fit in the boot and be delivered on one charge so that he won’t get ‘range anxiety’ this Christmas eve! He has 1,000 boxes of Montezuma’s Christmas chocolate to give away to anyone who tweets #SantaGoesElectric.”

I suppose that it’s too bad for those wanting to participate that he isn’t driving actually driving a Renault Kangoo ZE or Master ZE van, but rather a Zoe.

Worth noting here is that the carbon footprint associated with the use of grid electricity in the UK to power the Renault Zoe is also being offset by tree planting undertaken by the United Bank of Carbon.

So, as a reminder for those wanting to try to get their kids a free box of chocolate and a spectacle, the way you take part is by tweeting #SantaGoesElectric to @RenaultRetailUK on the day that he’s in your city (see above).

I don't like paywalls. You don't like paywalls. Who likes paywalls? Here at CleanTechnica, we implemented a limited paywall for a while, but it always felt wrong — and it was always tough to decide what we should put behind there. In theory, your most exclusive and best content goes behind a paywall. But then fewer people read it! We just don't like paywalls, and so we've decided to ditch ours. Unfortunately, the media business is still a tough, cut-throat business with tiny margins. It's a never-ending Olympic challenge to stay above water or even perhaps — gasp — grow. So ...
