Stigo, the fastest folding electric vehicle, wins a bronze medal at the 2017 Spark Design Awards for its cool electric scooter (e-scooter).

Stigo Gets Bronze Spark Design Award For Its E-Scooter

Stigo Gets Bronze Spark Design AwardsStigo is not sitting idly on its seat with its last mile e-scooter solution. The company received a bronze award in Transport Design in the Spark Awards. The Spark Design Awards is highly coveted, as it is the only independent design awards program judged live and annually by new juries from the profession and related industries.

If you haven’t read our original piece on the Stigo, this e-scooter offers an elegant solution for last mile commutes and easily folds so that you can bring it your office, coffee shop, or wherever you need to go. Wanting to answer the problems of cities increasingly becoming congested, last-mile solutions have been popping up here and there.

The last mile problem doesn’t have a one-stop solution. Public transportation, personal cars, bicycles, motorcycles, and more make up a mosaic of solutions but don’t always answer everyone’s needs, nor all of the time. Case in point, personal cars are great but when we get to our final destination in a city we have to fight for parking spots. Cars can’t always take us exactly where we need to be. Parking is also becoming a serious problem and is not always available or sometimes too expensive. Although we love using electric bicycles (e-bikes), traffic is also a real danger. Public transportation, despite however great it can be in certain parts of the world is too unpredictable with gaps, at least for the most parts in US cities. In the end, the more we have available, the easier our commuting becomes in urban areas.

Stigo’s innovative last-mile transportation solution is perfect for short distances. But any last mile solution has to easily fit in the trunk of a car or on public transportation, and it needs to be charged anywhere quickly. Perhaps the best part is that its ergonomic seat won’t brutalize your posterior the way some bicycle seats do.

According to Ardo Reinsalu, CEO of Stigo: “The average US commuter spends almost 50 hours a year in traffic, wasting thousands of dollars on gas and valuable time with friends and family… Using a 4000-pound four-wheeled vehicle to move a 150-pound person is something many don’t question. At Stigo, we questioned this and were motivated to create a highly functional e-vehicle that is lightweight and quick to fold in its towable form, without compromising ergonomics, aesthetics, user-experience and safety in the riding mode. We were told that creating such a vehicle was going to be impossible, but our team at Stigo proved it possible and we are honored that our effort in creating a better alternative for urban travel has been acknowledged by the Spark team.”

Stigo’s Bronze International Spark Awards

The 11th annual International Spark Awards program was a pretty competitive one this year. It had the highest number of awards submissions. It also had a judging panel of over 30 jurors. You see more of the winners here.
