Tesla Superchargers Now Beginning To Appear At Sheetz Stations

We reported in June 2016 and then again December 2016 that Tesla Supercharger stations would be installed at various Sheetz locations throughout the US East Coast, we but didn’t follow up on the matter since then for want of official updates. It appears, though, that installations are well underway now and those wanting to charge their Tesla while getting something to eat at a Sheetz can now do so.

To explain (for those who haven’t spent much time in the parts of the US where Sheetz operates), the company is a gas station chain that allows people to order basic food items (sandwiches, etc.) via touchscreen while getting gas. In other words, it is a company that is nearly a perfect partner for Tesla as regards a Supercharger buildout — Tesla owners can easily get something to eat while charging, and Tesla doesn’t have to work too hard finding convenient locations next to highways to place Superchargers.

The recent  news came to my attention via a post by “tn77” on the Model 3 Owners Club forum, so I’m going to go ahead and post part of that comment here:

“About a year ago, Forbes printed a piece that says Sheetz was in talks with Tesla about installing charging stations. I didn’t hear anything about it for a long time, but lately people on Facebook have been tagging me in pictures/posts saying “hey look at these things installed at Sheetz!” (They know I’m an electric car owner and Tesla fan.) Also, here’s a recent article about it: http://triblive.com/local/westmoreland/12678140-74/electric-car-chargers-popping-up-in-region

“I’m a big fan of Sheetz in general — friendly staff, very clean facilities — and this is just a brilliant move on their part. It seems they see the future, and they want to remain in business when ICE cars don’t exist. Great moves here by Tesla and Sheetz!”

I can’t argue with that. Model 3 owners will probably find the partnership convenient.

By the way, another forum member followed up by sharing this tweet:
