Mercedes-Benz Unveils Teaser For New Concept EQA
In a 13-second short video, Mercedes-Benz has managed to whet everyone’s appetite ahead of the Frankfurt Motor Show on Tuesday. The German car manufacturer has confirmed that it will exhibit the Concept EQA at the show, and the teaser has already raised a few eyebrows. The EQ sub-brand is focused on electric mobility, connectivity and autonomous technology, with ten EQ electric vehicles planned for delivery by 2025.
The EQA is an electric three-door hatchback that is adhering to the trend of making vehicles look they have been beamed in from the future, offering a glimpse of what road traffic could in time be dominated by. The teaser video doesn’t give away much, but the design exudes sleekness, with a plethora of rounded curves and an absence of sharp angles. The illuminated grill first seen on the Generation EQ is present, and the LED headlamps and taillights are arranged in an eye-catching vortex pattern.
The compact footprint of the hatchback may limit the size of the lithium-ion battery pack, but we don’t yet know how much impact this may have on the driving range. We’ll have to wait until the full unveiling on Tuesday for more detailed specs.
So far Mercedes has spent somewhere in the region on $9 billion on research and development of electric vehicles, which indicates just how important this market is becoming. And with no EV but the smart there is much left to desire.
