This coming weekend, Tomasz Gać, Jakub Stechly, and I are going to attempt to break the world record for miles driven in an electric car on a single charge. This attempt was planned before a group of Italians recently crushed the previous record, so they’ve certainly made our task more difficult, but we’re still hopeful. Weather permitting, the last charge of a Tesla Model S 100D will take place on Saturday evening. The route is basically Poznań–Łódź–Wrocław–Łódź–Wrocław (with some nuance).

As you might have guessed, this attempt at a new range world record is a Tesla Shuttle activity and will take place in a Tesla Model S 100D. A more thorough press release is below the line.

As part of the planning for the record attempt, Jacek Fior, another Tesla Shuttle co-founder, Kyle Field, CleanTechnica‘s VP of Biz Development and chief EV reviewer, and I will chat on another episode of our #Electrifying webinar series. Details here:

[Wrocław, Poland] August 16, 2017 — Tesla Shuttle (www.tesla-shuttle.eu), a startup based in Poland offering city-to-city and airport chauffeur service in Tesla vehicles, will soon attempt to break the world record for longest trip in an electric car without charging.

Departing on August 20, 2017, from Poznan, Poland, the Tesla Shuttle team will then drive to Łódż, to Wrocław, back to Łódż, back to Wrocław, and then back to Poznan. The adventure should take slightly more than 24 hours going at approximately 35–40 km/h.

This driving record was recently beaten by a team of 5 Italians, who went 1,078 kilometers in a Tesla Model S 100D. This is the longest range version of the Model S thanks to its large battery (100 kWh) and dual motors. This model has an officially rated range of 539 kilometers, but driving slowly can dramatically increase how many kilometers you can get out of a 100 kWh battery. Turning off the air conditioning, not playing music, and pumping up the tires can help a bit as well.

Tesla Shuttle has just started offering its premium chauffeur service out of Wrocław, Poland. The first daily route for the service is Wrocław–Berlin—Wrocław. However, the company is also able to shuttle passengers to other cities in the region upon request, such as Łódź, Warsaw, Poznań, Kraków, Katowice, Dresden, Prague, Brno, and Ostrava. Of course, the commercial drives will be done at normal speeds, not 35–40 km/h!

During normal Tesla Shuttle service, the passengers get to choose the music thanks to Spotify, each seat can be heated individually to three different levels, WiFi is onboard, and there’s an electricity outlet for charging a laptop, tablet, or phone.

Tesla Shuttle is also offering airport pickups/dropoffs in Wrocław, and its electricity-obsessed cofounders can be hired to organize special electric vehicle events, offer Tesla test drives, and provide presentations about electric transport and transportation as a service (TaaS).

“There are many benefits to electric cars, from the convenience of leaving home or work with a full charge, to the fun of instant torque — which is certainly amplified in a Tesla,” Tomasz Gać, Tesla Shuttle cofounder as well as founder and CEO of Quriers, a Polish courier service that includes a Nissan LEAF amongst its vehicles. “Electric vehicles enable us to be independent from oil, which improves our economy, can be a great help to our personal finances, and contributes toward efforts for world peace. As it stands, much of the military conflict in the world is based around oil resources and dependency. Electric cars move us away from that problem and help to ‘democratize’ our energy system.”

“From carsharing to ridesharing and city shuttles, the way we see transport is changing for better,” Jacek Fior, Tesla Shuttle cofounder and Better Horizons founder, added. “It’s all about more alternatives and a service that really suits your needs at a particular moment. EVs simply make the experience so much more exciting.”

“Electric cars are the future, but they’re actually already here,” Tesla Shuttle cofounder and CleanTechnica director Zach Shahan says. “In many respects, they’re the best option on the market for personal transport, but we find that it’s even nicer to be driven by a chauffeur at a price that beats flying, taking the train, or driving yourself. We also think it’s just a ton of fun to drive or ride in an electric car, and that preference for fun is what inspired us to try to break this record!”

[Wrocław, Polska] 15 sierpnia 2017 — Tesla Shuttle (www.tesla-shuttle.eu), startup oferujący przewozy między miastami, dojazd na lotniska i usługi szoferskie samochodami Tesla spróbuje niedługo pobić rekord świata w przejechanych kilometrach na jednym ładowaniu.

Ruszając 19 sierpnia z Poznania zespół Tesla Shuttle pojedzie do Łodzi, później do Wrocławia, wróci do łodzi i ponownie ruszy do Wrocławia, aby tam w okolicy Supercharger Kostomłoty zakończyć podróż.

Pasażerowie w Tesla Shuttle mogą wybrać dowolną muzykę dzięki usłudze Spotify, dopasować komfort jazdy temperaturą wnętrza i ogrzewaniem poszczególnych siedzeń, skorzystać z WiFi i podłączyć laptopa, telefon czy tablet do wtyczki 220V.

“Wszystkie zmierza do większego wyboru opcji dojazdu z punktu A do punktu B w zależności od naszych potrzeb w danej chwili.
