The BMW i3 is one of those electric cars that doesn’t get enough love. It’s a stunning vehicle — “the most advanced vehicle on the planet,” according to respected engineering outfit Munro & Associates. It offers a totally awesome driving experience, premium interior that’s on another level, the best visibility in town, an insane turning radius, a superb parking package, adaptive cruise control, super strong regen braking (strongest in the industry last I heard), high-quality batteries, and the choice of a range extender if you so choose.

It’s also small. That is a big upside for people who prefer easy parking and driving in the city, but it’s a big downside for others and typically we associate paying more with getting something bigger. Some of the i3 benefits noted above definitely do come from its small size, but storage capacity and legroom in the back also show the flipside of the equation.

BMW i3 sales aren’t top of the mountain in the US, but BMW USA has moved a few thousand i3s this year so far, and the i3 is the third-best-selling electric car in Europe, with nearly 9,000 sales through May.

After talking at length with a thoughtful EV leader and BMW i3 owner, Afeez Alade-Kolawole, and publishing two BMW i3 review articles from Jose Pontes, I decided I wanted to make the i3 the focus of our next #Electrifying webinar.

The i3 is actually priced quite similarly to the Tesla Model 3, so it seemed logical that we’d be repeatedly comparing the cars. Roping in Kyle Field as well, who is spending a week with the i3 and just wrote his first review article of it, we decided to make the webinar topic “Is The BMW i3 A Good Buy With Tesla Model 3 On The Way?”

Webinar details are as follows:

Register here

◊ July 23, Sunday

◊ 11:00 am NYC time

◊ Will be livestreamed on Facebook: www.facebook.com/CleanTechnica

◊ Again, register here

Naturally, we will start off the webinar with our own thoughts about the BMW i3, but we’ll then open the webinar up to Q&A. You can also drop comments or questions below this article.
