As we deal with the fallout of Trump’s abandonment of America’s climate commitments through the Paris Agreement, it’s important to remember that he does NOT speak for all Americans. Many conservative voices also oppose this destructive move.

CONSERVAMERICA

…Climate change is a global problem that requires American leadership. The United States has led the developed world in reduction of conservamerica.orggreenhouse gas emissions over the past decade—almost entirely attributable to replacing coal-powered electric generation with abundant natural gas extracted with cutting edge technology.   We will continue on that trajectory.

American industry, states, universities, research labs, and NGO’s will not slow their momentum in seeking cleaner solutions to our emissions issues because of today’s announcement.  ConservAmerica and its partners are pursuing a Zero Regrets policy that cuts taxes on zero emission energy, lowers consumer electric bills, and incents accelerated adoption of cleaner energy production.  We believe it is an “America First” proposal that protects our environment and strengthens our economy….

RepublicEn

Donald Trump is choosing to become the worldwide face of climate hoaxerism. When he leaves office, he’s going to take that climate RepublicEnhoaxerism with him. He’s isolated himself in a small encampment at the fringe of civilization—in the company of only Syria and Nicaragua. When America finds its way back to leading the world, this embarrassing episode will be forgotten.

At republicEn.org, we’re excited about the renaissance that the repudiation of Trump will bring. As the disappointed come to see populist nationalism for the snake oil it is, we expect a rebirth of conservatism. The foundational principle of accountability will guide us to a simple ‘pricing in’ of the hidden costs of burning fossil fuels, and free enterprise will rise to solve the problem of climate change.

The Paris agreement established a will but not a way to reduce emissions. America can show the way by leading the world to a transparent pricing of carbon dioxide…  If President Trump had chosen to do so, we think that he could have explained this policy even at one of his rallies. We even wrote a speech for him here. We’re disappointed that he didn’t use it.

Citizens’ Climate Lobby

With the White House abdicating any responsibility to avoid climate disaster, it is imperative for Congress to step into the leadership citizens' climate lobby sustainable climate logovacuum and enact effective legislation to reduce carbon pollution. Citizens’ Climate Lobby, along with conservative voices, proposes a market-based solution – a steadily-rising fee on carbon emissions with revenue returned to households.

Less than two weeks after the President’s announcement, 1,000 constituents from across the nation will descend on Capitol Hill to meet with every congressional office and press the case for action on climate change.

Despite the Trump administration’s antipathy to address climate change, there are encouraging signs that Republicans and Democrats can come together in Congress to enact climate solutions. The bipartisan House Climate Solutions Caucus has more than doubled in size since the start of the year and now has 40 members with equal numbers from both sides of the aisle.

Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutions

Americans win when our policymakers balance economics, national security and the environment. That’s why the decision to withdraw Citizens for Responsible Energy Solutionsfrom the Paris Agreement instead of renegotiating is highly disappointing. The United States has historically led international discussions around energy development, security, and the environment. Leaving this international agreement hinders the U.S.’s ability to advance our national interests in this highly-visible national forum,” said CRES Forum Director of Policy and Advocacy Charles Hernick.

“While we supported a renegotiation of the agreement, the fact still remains that it is imperative we prioritize domestic clean energy production.  Solar, wind, nuclear, hydro, natural gas and geothermal power are proven drivers of economic growth and job creation, and have made tremendous progress in diversifying the nation’s energy system. CRES Forum will continue to engage the Trump Administration, members of Congress, and governors across the country to prioritize clean energy policies as part of an all-of-the-above energy approach.  We also thank the many policymakers and industry leaders who made compelling cases to remain in the Paris Agreement.
