Climate Reality’s New Rapid Response Team Is A Facebook Bot For Good, Not Evil

Each day, there’s an average of 1.28 billion — billion! — active users on Facebook.
In fact, Facebook adds 500,000 new users every day (which breaks down to about six new profiles every second). Nearly a quarter of the world is on the site, giving it the potential to be an incredible platform for change. And that’s why we built a robot — er, launched our Rapid Response Team there.
WHAT IS THE RAPID RESPONSE TEAM?
Okay, we admit it’s not a physical, R2D2/C-3PO/Wall-E type of robot. It’s a bot we coded on Facebook that you can use to subscribe to action alerts from Climate Reality. That means when something big happens in the fight against climate change, we’ll send a message to you on Facebook that explains how you can take action immediately.
This way, when your boss catches you on Facebook at work, you can tell them it was for the good of the planet. Not all heroes wear capes, you know.
HOW CAN I JOIN?
Joining the Rapid Response team is easy. Just click here, where you’ll be directed to Climate Reality’s shortcut on Facebook Messenger. There should be a button that appears at the bottom of the chat screen that says, “Get Started.” But if that doesn’t appear (even robots can’t be perfect all the time), just type a quick “hey!” and the bot will come to life. He (She? It?) will walk you through the rest.
After you subscribe to the team, we promise not to spam you with messages. We’ll send you, at most, a few messages a week and each one will have something you can do to take action and help solve the climate crisis.
But you don’t have to wait for us to send an action alert to see how you can make a difference. The bot will direct you to our easy action links (adding your name to our Stand With Reality pledge, downloading an e-book, and more), where we’re adding new content all the time.
