Forestalia Group & GE To Develop 1.2 Gigawatt Wind Farm In Spain

The Forestalia Group, through its Sociedad Aragonesa Transeuropea de Energías Renovables, has been awarded a contract to develop a 1.2 gigawatt wind farm in Aragón, Spain, by the country’s Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda, which will use GE Renewable Energy 3-megawatt wind turbines.

The development of the 1.2 gigawatt (GW) wind farm will build on the tender that Forestalia won in January of 2016 to develop 408.5 megawatts (MW) of wind farms and bioenergy stations across Aragón in the northeast of the country. So far, Forestalia has received approvals from the Government of Aragón for the original 2016 tender, and is moving forward to construct the first 300 MW wind farm.

Also announced was the news that GE Renewable Energy would supply the wind turbines for both the 300 MW first-phase wind farm and the larger 1.2 GW wind farm. GE will supply wind turbines from its 3 MW range for both projects, and will manufacture the turbines across its three European facilities.
