“Stop Tesla” = Hilarious
Originally published on Gas2.
Pollution from fossil fuels is slowly but surely endangering every person on earth. One way to reduce the threat level would be to stop burning the gasoline that makes the automobiles we drive go. The Tesla Model 3 is the harbinger of the future — an affordable midsize car that uses no gasoline at all. Production in set to begin just two months from now, and although Tesla won’t say how many reservations it has for the car, the best guess among those who follow the company closely seems to be very close to half a million.
Some economists, like Stanford professor Tony Seba, think the looming electric car revolution will send both the auto industry and oil companies into a death spiral, and much sooner than anyone thought. Seba is predicting the collapse will happen by 2030, which isn’t all that far away, when you stop to think about it.
In today’s superheated fake news environment, where the Koch Brothers pony up $10 million to promote disinformation about the wonders of fossil fuels in mainstream media, it can be hard for contrary opinions to be heard. Sometimes, people who want to get the word out have to resort to underhanded tactics — like humor. Throughout history, satire has been one of the best ways to stick a pin in the balloon of the wealthy and the powerful.
Now, a group of dedicated Elon Musk supporters has created a satirical website that lampoons the oil barons of the world who are learning for the first time that their wives, business partners, and family physicians have stabbed them in the heart by ordering a Model 3. Oh, the horror! Like faithless Brutus who helped slay Julius Caesar, their treachery is devastating to the erstwhile oil czars of the world.
Do your part to give the Fickle Finger of Fate to the fossil fuel overlords. Click on the Stop Tesla website and then share it with your friends on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, SnapChat, and LinkedIn. Below is a sample of what you will find there.
