In anticipation of the model’s launch next year, Jaguar recently showcased its all-electric I-PACE Concept on the streets of London (for the first time), giving us a look at the real-world face of the highly anticipated model. The I-PACE was also at the Geneva Motor Show.

I’m not being paid to write nice things about the I-PACE — I simply think that the model is likely to do quite well. 🙂 After all, the Jaguar I-PACE will essentially have the market to itself — the only other all-electric SUV out there being the Tesla Model X, which seems as though it probably caters to a somewhat different type of customer. And, to put it simply, the I-PACE is a very stylish offering.

As a reminder, current plans are for the I-PACE to hit the market sometime during the second half of 2018. The model will possess an EPA range rating of around ~220 miles per full charge — achieved through the use of a 90 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery pack. The 0 to 60 mph time will reportedly be around 4 seconds, and output will be around 400 horsepower + 516 pound-feet of torque (combined front + rear output). Fast-charging will reportedly be standard — though, the current lack of an extensive, public fast-charging network may prove to be a barrier for some.

Jaguar Director of Design, Ian Callum, commented: “The feedback on the I-PACE Concept has been fantastic. With the I-PACE Concept we’ve torn up the rule book to create a vehicle with supercar inspired aesthetics, sports car performance, and SUV space, in one electric package. It has surprised people and the enthusiasm for our first electric vehicle has been beyond all my expectations. Driving the concept on the streets is really important for the design team. It’s very special to put the car outside and in the real-world. You can see the true value of the I-PACE’s dramatic silhouette and powerful proportions when you see it on the road, against other cars. The I-PACE Concept represents the next generation of battery electric vehicle design. For me, the future of motoring has arrived.”

I’m not really a “car person,” but I’d still say that the model has an eye-catching quality to it.
