Nissan will be debuting the new LEAF EV in September, with plans to begin sales and deliveries of the model before the end of the year, according to recent reports.

Interestingly, the company will be offering lease extensions to current LEAF lessees (along with 3 months of courtesy payments) if they decide to get on the waiting list for the refreshed version of the popular model.

Sounds like a pretty good approach — make sure that those who are currently leasing Nissan LEAFs have an easy means of transitioning and upgrading to the new offerings (which will possess a much higher range, and aesthetics that are less polarizing).

The offer apparently applies to any LEAF lessees who possess leases expiring on or after April 1st. Further details are sparse, but presumably it won’t be too difficult for current LEAF lessees to upgrade if they so choose?

Nissan will reportedly be revealing more about the new 2018 Nissan LEAF “in the coming months,” so perhaps we’ll find out more about the matter soon.

Notably, those who have purchased LEAFs outright will reportedly also be given access to the pre-order program for the new LEAF.

That all sounds pretty organized, right? I guess that’s because Nissan has been selling all-electrics for quite a while now and are taking the release of the refreshed LEAF seriously. I doubt it will be hard to find one of the new LEAFs following release (as is now the case with Chevy Bolts and Toyota Prius Primes in most places).

A lot is expected of the 2018 Nissan LEAF. For more on that, see:
