The all-electric Nissan e-NV200 was the best selling electric van in Europe during 2016 (across 17 different regional countries), according to a new press release from Nissan.

In total, e-NV200 van sales in Europe were up year on year (YoY) by around 7% in 2016. Not bad considering that the model is a couple of years old and hasn’t seen a major upgrade yet.

The 3 top markets in Europe for the model during 2016 were: the UK, Norway, and France — more or less the 3 top plug-in electric vehicle markets in Europe in general, so not surprising.

The press release provides more: “The UK proved to be the top market in Europe for Nissan e-NV200, followed closely by Norway and then France. With overall Nissan e-NV200 sales up 7% in 2016 compared to the previous year with 4,319 units registered, it is clear the popularity of this 100% electric van is on the rise.”

The Director of Electric Vehicles at Nissan Europe, Gareth Dunsmore, commented:

“As more and more businesses focus on reducing their carbon footprint, the need to find zero emission transport solutions is becoming more important than ever. Through Nissan Intelligent Mobility, we are working towards a sustainable future and our e-NV200 complements our vision perfectly whilst catering to a wide range of customer needs.

“Aside from its obvious environmental advantages, e-NV200 owners also benefit from its low-running costs (starting from as little as €0.03 per km), a smooth and near-silent ride and 40% lower servicing costs when compared with an equivalent diesel vehicle.”

Presumably, sales of the model will jump pretty significantly following the battery pack/range upgrade that’s expected within the next few years.
