GM Makes 1st Chevy Bolt EV Delivery In Canada
GM has now delivered its first Chevy Bolt EV in Canada, to a Joe Winkfein in the Toronto area, according to recent reports.
The delivery was received at Dean Myers Chevrolet Buick GMC Corvette in Toronto on January 27th.
Winkfein apparently settled on purchasing a Chevy Bolt EV after spending a year or so driving a 2014 Chevy Volt that he bought used — this used purchase was apparently his “baby step to move into the EV world,” as he put it.
Interestingly, he actually tried to put a deposit down on the Bolt EV after the initial production-version unveiling last January.
Green Car Reports provides more:
“Dean Meyers could not accept deposits until formal ordering for the car opened, so Winkfein had to wait until November to place his order. He was initially given a build slot for the week of December 12, but that was later pushed back to the week of January 16.
“Winkfein confirmed with GM on January 24 that his car had been built, and it was shipped to the dealership the next day. He signed the paperwork that Friday. But because Dean Meyers had given him an ‘excellent deal’ on the Bolt EV, Winkfein granted the dealership’s request to keep it over the weekend to show to prospective customers.”
I admit that I’m a bit curious what that “excellent deal” was in practice, as Chevy Bolt EV sale and lease prices have apparently been all over the place depending on the dealership in question.
As a reminder, only a handful of states in the US can currently order Chevy Bolt EVs — California, New York, Oregon, New Jersey, Virginia, Massachusetts, and Maryland. Nationwide ordering availability (in the US) will reportedly begin in July, with deliveries expected to begin nationwide by September.
