Schneider Electric & Arcadia Power Partner To Offer Wiser Air Thermostat For $0 Upfront
In what might be an industry first for smart thermostats, a new partnership will offer customers a Wiser Air Thermostat for $0 upfront, which will be paid for through a pay-as-you-save program. The partnership between Schneider Electric, which is the company behind the Wiser Air device, and Arcadia Power, which offers US customers clean “energy as a service,” aims to combine the energy management expertise of Schneider with the utility billing platform of Arcadia.
According to the press release, new customers can sign up with Arcadia Power, which will give them the option to offset some or all of their electrical consumption with wind energy or community solar, after which Schneider Electric will send its Wiser Air thermostat direct to their home, anywhere in the US, for zero money down. The customers allow Arcadia to manage their electric bill, and the energy savings gained by using the new smart thermostat over time will help pay for the cost of the device.
The Wiser Air thermostat is said to deliver “energy efficient comfort” thanks to its self-learning feature, which avoids the need for residents to manually create a schedule or input desired temperature points, and the device is said to “reduce energy costs by as much as 30%.”

In addition to the ‘free’ smart thermostat available through this partnership, the two companies are said to also be working to integrate time-of-use and demand response programs into the thermostat offer, which could unlock additional savings for consumers.
