Tesla, Chevy Bolt, & Other EV Production & Sales Numbers In 2017 — You Guess!

CleanTechnica reader “No way” had a great suggestion last week — poll the community on 2017 Tesla production and delivery predictions. We actually did this last year, but I forgot to check on the numbers until Karl Graves emailed them over. A few of us were quite close to nailing the 2016 total. However, I think some of us didn’t carefully consider production versus delivery figures, so we are clearly separating those figures in this year’s poll.

In case you missed the news:

  • 83,922 Tesla vehicles were produced in 2016
  • 76,230 Tesla vehicles were delivered in 2016

Close calls for “production estimates” (aka guesses) from our community were:

  • Brent Jatko — 75,000 (super close to the actual deliveries total)
  • Zach Shahan (me) — 83,100
  • Tim — 83,101 (that’s how you slickly win a projection poll :D)
  • Zorba — 88,000

I decided it would be interesting to also see crowdsourced projections for other EV sales this year — Chevy Bolt sales, Chevy Volt sales, Nissan LEAF sales, Toyota Prius Prime sales, BMW i3 sales, Ford Energi sales — as well as for overall EV sales. So, below is a poll on the above electric models and overall EV sales (deliveries). If you want to chime in non-anonymously as well, please drop a comment below the article with your precise guesses!

Oh, one last note: there are global production and delivery questions for the Tesla models, but the other questions (as you should see) are only for US deliveries. Be careful with your answers!
